Sorry Spooky, i really dont believe that the SS said no because of logistics. The only thing I would believe in the SS scenario keeping him from attending would be a credible threat to the president, and them not allowing him to leave.

They didn't.

They were prepared to motorcade him there.

It was Trumps call on if he wanted to take the heat for it.

He said no.

He was prepared to fly in, he wasn't staying in the city, he was 2.5 hours out of it by car.

In order to make that trip the SS would have had to basically shut down every neighborhood his motorcade passed through as well as the part of Paris he traveled through, pretty much on the fly with no advanced warning for the people going to work or whatever.

Now its fair to say that whoever was in charge of logistics screwed up or whoever gave the SS the weather report for that day did but Trump made the right call.

He is not in charge of those details.

You obviously don't know the protection the president gets in foreign lands.

His motorcade consists of 40 to 50 vehicles.



And this is just his visual motorcade, there is a secondary layer of protection with just as many vehicles in it as well as every local police agency who's territory they go through providing even more protection taking them off their regular duties.

Now considering that this wasn't a scheduled motorcade there would have to be even more people involved in putting it together at the cost of many millions of dollars.

You don't just simply get in the car and press the gas pedal.

 

And what was the purpose (and cost) of flying his fat ass to France to begin with? Get some hotel room service? Le Chicken Fried?

Get to your event... the only 2 excuses (one pointed out by Grape) are a specific threat and severe illness...

 

And the cost and the disruption to the people of France.

Yeah so I have a hard time believing there was any threat of weather for Marine One. I've a heck of a lot of hours in helos for EMS/SAR work. Been in far smaller birds in much worse conditions, including wilderness and high mountains. It took some very nasty **** for a pilot to tell us "No go".

This was a quick run across suburbia and farmland on a short flight, in temps well above freezing with very light rain.

Or a one hour drive the French would have been delighted to clear the roads for. The French absolutely love what America did for them in two world wars. To this very day there are associations that coordinate French families in adopting American graves. They maintain them and volunteer hospitality to the descendants of American soldiers who travel to France to visit their ancestor. These people are true fans of remembering America's great sacrifice to save France. There would have been no difficulty whatsoever getting a clear road for an American President to visit an American cemetery, in France, on so special a day.

Even the remote suggestion of such a difficulty is laughable. Displays an abject ignorance of the situation on the ground.

Has anyone considered the likelihood that Donny T. fancied a grand helicoptered arrival at the ceremony. Then when he was told how inappropriate that would be, just sulked and refused to attend. Maybe if its not about him, it has no value to him.

 

Plus the fact being how was he going to get to the helicopter to start the journey if not by motorcade - did the hotel have its own heliport
