Less than two-and-a-half hours after Trump’s 7:44 a.m. tweet, the White House announced that Trump would remain there with no public events for the rest of the day.

“He’s not going to Arlington. He’s not even going up to Walter Reed,” Fischer said. “Once again, Donald Trump only sees the military as props. If it doesn’t benefit him, he’s not going to do it.”

Arlington National Cemetery is minutes from the White House across the Potomac River in Virginia. Walter Reed is the Army hospital a short helicopter ride away in Bethesda, Maryland, where service members wounded in combat are treated.

The White House did not respond to repeated queries about the president’s lack of a schedule on Monday. Nor did it respond to questions about Trump’s decision to cancel a visit to the American cemetery in France on Saturday and instead remain indoors tweeting, rather than go to an alternate site closer by.

So now it's gone from rain, then to low cloud cover, then to strong winds and now due to visibility. Just waiting for a hurricane being the cause. Oh, and "too far from airport" has what to do with driving and everyone else was driven to the cemetry!

I read it would have taken over 2 hours with major shut downs of Paris for the motorcade to get there, and POTUS never takes motorcades for that distance.

You should have stuck with your original answer of "yeah, bad planning" which is all this was (your follow up of 'trump is the victim here' was a bit over the top though
. The defense of this snafu is just getting weirder and worser. It is not a 2 and half hour drive to the cemetery, but closer to one hour. High winds that afternoon were 20kms/hour. There WAS however a low cloud ceiling (though not that low). And if you think that Trump doesn't want to offend other people's sensibilities I don't know what universe you have been living in.

You guys really should stick to the original story (and accept that this chaos White House planned poorly)

I judge a president by what his actions mean for the nation, making up excuses for missing an event is irrelevant to me.

The size of his crowds are irrelevant to me.

I am increasingly puzzled by what Trump supporters continue to find worthy of their support in Trump. I had no idea that Americans--ANY AMERICANS--could ever find something worthy of their loyalty & support in such a bully & jerk as Trump has proven repeatedly to be. It's just beyond me. Is it simply that those who support him like him because he's so much like them? I don't know. It's a mystery.

 

The fact that he went over there instead of creating any number of legitimate excuses to just stay in the U.S. forms a rebuttable presumption that he intended to attend the service. That the most professional pilots and security people in the world comprise the crew of Marine One and the SS creates a rebuttable presumption that their judgment not to go was reasonable.

TDS sufferers have offered -0- facts or evidence rebutting any of the above, just mountains of screeching BS.

That the Left is raving out utter speculation in this thread and elsewhere in a strained attempt to create just another empty ORANGEMANBAD! narrative without knowing the facts, and as usual not knowing much of anything about anything, is a rebuttable presumption that they would have criticized Trump had he taken a motorcade and "TRUMP SHUTS DOWN FRANCE WITH LONG, WASTEFUL MOTORCADE!" would have been the result. Don't bother denying it.

 

Perhaps it's the difference between overwrought, pearl-clutching emotionality like the above and agreeing with the Administration's policies and actions, the normal measure of rational adult support for this or that Administration in the real, not the tabloid world.
