    https://www.businessinsider.com/trumps-push-to-compel-public-schools-to-reopen-is-backfiring-2020-7

The decision to aggressively push schools into re-opening is a decision that was apparently rooted in trying re-gain support among suburban voters and that plan is back-firing. There are a wealth of polling information to support the assertion that a significant majority of Americans do not think the schools should re-open right now and they blame Trump for his lack of leadership.

The reason? Americans do not trust Donald Trump or his administration to handle the virus. And in this specific aspect, they have very good reason because Donald Trump's administration has released almost zero guidance (and that guidance was promptly criticized by Trump himself) for how to open the schools safely especially with cases spiking in at least thirty states.

Covid did show that a quality education doesn't need to cost a lot of money. Online classes don't require real estate and text should be free. One book can cost over $1000.00. Of course, we will have to have some uncomfortable conversations about pay, pensions, and government contracts.

i always thought educating our children was essential...apparently the left doesn’t...make sense...an educate population is harder for them to control.

experts agree with trump...getting kids back in school is important to their health and development.

Of course it’s important. Doesn’t mean it should be done before it’s safe.

There is absolutely no reason to keep schools closed....except for political reasons. Most on the left do not want schools to reopen because that means parents can go back to work instead of staying home with their child and the economy will improve right before election time....something that many on the left do not want.

There have been many studies and articles done that show that children are very unlikely to catch and spread the COVID virus. These studies have been done by many different countries. While children can catch the virus, they do not get very sick and the death rate among children is low worldwide, and almost always involves an underlying condition. Sure, there are some children that have other conditions and these children still need to be protected. However, these children are also in danger of the common influenza year round.

I have just hear that the US is the only western country that has not open up the schools or are very close to opening them. I'm sure that November 4th it will be completely safe to open schools....especially if Biden wins the elections.

I think they should open, but i have no skin in the game, adult age child.

One district in FL is talking about safety goggles along with masks too, that should be a fun one.

I say go for it, just to make the news more interesting

not an argument...are you sure you are a lawyer?

the first paragraph was me simply pondering the logic of why libs don’t think education of our kids is essential

and the second is stating a fact.

your inability to recognize how that’s not an argument highlights that education is essential and important though

But,,, but,,, cant we just open them ? I dont need to hear about any China Flu, or people that are afraid of catching the Kungflu... I need people back working to project good Employement numbers. Then i can Pretend "like I did for 3 years" that we are in the best economy EVER.
You can bet that all the reporting Beaure-gards will be posting 100% false Numbers in September and October. Trump does not care about HONEST reporting... He just wants to see good numbers that he can make false claims about.

Not all kids in school are in high school. In fact, most aren’t.

It depends on where you live, but I agree maybe not every state should reopen.

I live in Massachusetts & we are doing fine.
Considering more children died from the common flu than covid-19, our schools should open in August if there is no spike in cases.

His statement is why I think the Right Wing Think tanks pay people so so much money to ACT LIKE and individual citizen with an Opinion and Post them everywhere possible. Who could actually have this guys opinion ? "the experts" as they say.... Or like Trump does, use EVERYONE, or the nation wants... in a statement.
Trump " Everyone has told me that we need the kids to go back to school"

No ****... But you cant send them all back when you have made a total debacle of the Virus... Having all those little kids spreading it so fast. Classrooms full of it. It is going to happen anyway because somewhere, probably here in Florida some republican controlled district will follow DeSantis right into the rabbit hole. With 2 weeks the school will be half empty.
What will the admin and Desantis say... "Well, if the Parents had did it correctly we would not have this problem, Democratic PARENTS probably sent their kids to school knowing they were sick"

When you open if one kid has it the whole school will have it by the end of the week. That is how contagious it is... It is why we removed them from Schools in March. The only reason that none died from it is AGAIN... Because we pulled them out...
It is as if Republicans would rather just infect everyone and get it over with.
