no need to...he just listened to the experts and followed the guidelines from the trump admin.

with that said jails are mich more complex to deal with the virus then schools are. my point being all along was simply because one person at the school might get it, that doesn’t mean the entire school is doomed to get it ss was suggested by the poster i was responding to

Under Trump we have allowed the country to muck up a chance to burn out the Virus.

Such a simple thing ........... Wear a mask , social distance and quarantine. Setup contract tracing and work it like a detective.

On a Federal Level. 1 voice marching orders. Generals running the show like a war.

No Trump had to turn it into a political tv show ........ " tell us he's doing what the world has never seen before "

Yeah ........ Trump pushed the Governors to open early. Didn't show America the basic efforts. In July he wore a mask once

We now need to do it all over again.

This time hopefully a Leader will emerge and Lead our country Like most other successful countries have done

Certainly not replace, but reduce significantly. Before Covid, 2 of my kids finished HS having to go to a classroom only once a week. The rest of their work was at home. The big issue will be government contracts that make text expensive, tenure, and pensions.

    he loves you...all Americans.

maybe you should get back to school so you can learn more reading comprehension skills and get more out of my post. I’d also suggest you get the. full clip from trump’s acceptance speech...instead of a clip rachael maddow made for you

well...i know this is hard...but there were 2 paragraphs...one was a statement of fact about experts.

and a separate paragraph, where i was pondering a separate point.

not at straw man at all...i was responding to your OP objecting to schools opening and because of tea chi ers getting sick etc.

obviously you don’t think education is essential like grocery stores and liquor stores...

another bs statement...his admin worked out a draft, he said it was to expensive and they are back working on it.

he has not once suggested all schools open the same way. he has always sided wi the experts and supported kids getting back to school...and highlighted education is essential.

I do, wish my kids would leave sometimes though. But not enough to risk their health.

he has never claimed to be an expert on education or the virus...quote him saying otherwise

mask, gloves, personal hygene, social distancing, separated the infected etc.

same things we are all doing...same things schools could be doing...what all essential businesses are doing

but maybe you are in the same camp as MTLegal and other dems that don’t think educating kids is essential...

Actually, it comes from the CDC.

If looking at pre-high school age since 02/01/2020 we can see that this group is not impacted much:

    Under 1: Covid-9 Flu-14
    1-4: Covid-8 Flu-40
    5-14 - Covid-14 Flu-47

So a total of 31 deaths via COVID (0.00025% of the overall death rate) and 101 via flu (0.015% of the overall death rate). However, we do see an increase in Covid deaths versus flu in the High School and College age:

    15-24 - Covid-157 Flu-51

    https://data.cdc.gov/d/9bhg-hcku/visualization

This is not a case of the children not being exposed either. There have been numerous studies around the world that are reaching the conclusion that children under the age of 15 are less likely to contract and spread the Covid virus. This is why may schools across the globe have reopened are are soon to reopen.

    https://www.sciencemag.org/news/202...t-ways-keep-coronavirus-bay-despite-outbreaks

    https://dontforgetthebubbles.com/the-missing-link-children-and-transmission-of-sars-cov-2/

This does not mean that some children would not be at risk, but the children that would be at risk (asthma, copd, or other underlying condition) are at risk year round. These children should certainly not return to school at this time.

you don’t think you are harming their health by keeping them locked up in your home?

    See my post above

I'm for improving the economy at anytime. Never in our history have we shut down the economy like we did for this virus and we should not have done it this time.

Children are less susceptible to contract and spread the virus according to recent studies. If we are truly concerned about the spread of the virus to parents and grandparents, then there should be outrage over the protests.

It's a far better argument than you have for keeping schools closed.

You fancy yourself as a covid-19 expert but clearly haven't looked at the many studies done that show that schools reopening are not a risk.

Schools reopening is absolutely the right call....all the science backs it up. But you and the rest of the left only believe the science when it suits your agenda. The science doesn't match with your agenda on this one so you'll, naturally, ignore it.

BTW.....go on and ask me what studies since I know you won't educate yourself on your own.

Sure, we’ll pay for the research, then it’ll be 8000 a dose.

May 11 (UPI) -- Children may be at reduced risk for serious illness from COVID-19, but researchers observed that nearly one in four young people developed multiple organ-system failure as a result of the disease, a study published Monday shows.

A study of 48 children admitted to pediatric intensive care units in the United States for treatment after infection by the new coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, shows the virus can lead to severe disease and require hospitalization, researchers reported in a multi-university study published in JAMA Pediatrics.
