    Maintenance alone will put it way way beyond that.

    Then we use infrared directed auto cannons or missiles because a mirror coated ship would have an insane heat signature.

    Navy officials announced Monday that in early 2014, a solid-state laser prototype will be mounted to the fantail of the USS Ponce and sent to the 5th fleet region in the Middle East for real-world experience.

    Funny. Must be out to one-up Iran and their drone program that got started thanks to our losing drones over their territory.

    I understand there are many bar in the New York area that serve beer.
    I'm assured the British pub in Tangerang, near Jakarta is nice.

    Anyone hear anything about the rate of fire for this laser? Does it need time to charge up or can it fire repeatedly?

    If this can fire repeatedly and almost instantaniously hit targets, this may be a game changer in defending Navy vessels against attack.

    I have taken many a tipple but decided it wasn't a good idea.
    Most people think that's a result of my Islamic experience but it is not.
    In fact, the final moment came was I was too drunk to stop a girl being sexually abused by her father.

    These were never that great to me for not being fast enough for missiles. More of a bridge system IMO.

    The Americans are a bit behind the times here. The Royal Navy deployed laser weapons on board warships during the Falklands War - 32 years ago.
