Name a frail / sensitive badass. Any come to mind there? Perhaps Michael Cera is your standard of manliness? This is essentially what your "superior" race will look like, by the way. Your species will die out in a short time due to inability to figure out how to reproduce.

Me.

Now back to geniuses: Einstein (little guy); Frank Lloyd Wright (said he was 5'8" and that any taller was a waste of material); Newton (190+ IQ, and 5'6" I believe); Madam Curie? (tiny); guys who discovered the structure of DNA (skinny wimps).

So, no standards, just let everyone drop to the bottom of the barrell?

Sure, that doesn't cause any civil unrest or anything, right?

I don't think you are going to get anywhere just by raising the minimum wage.

Maybe not by that one act alone.

However, if we combine this act, which will ensure a minimum quality of life for people that are working, with other changes that encourage and grow education and job training, we can make sure that we don't sink before the long term changes take place.

After all, it does no good to ONLY look at the long term. You can't train for a new career if you have already died, or if you have no money to afford the training.

CourtJester,

I think you are confusing labels here. What you are asking for is not part of Liberalism and what it means to be a true classic Liberal in its true meaning.

1. No one is guaranteed healthcare. In a true liberal approach that is the responsibility of the individual to provide a way for themself. What you are asking for the free market already provides. To have a Government program means Socialism and a Progressive big government approach. (Principle 3)

2. There is already access to housing all over the USA. What you are asking for is more government housing. There are already systems inplace in the USA for this but they don't work because the government is involved. Go ask New York how well their system works. IT doesn't. (Principle 3)

3. The reason that after high school education is so high in cost is because of the Government. The government should get out of the education loan business because it is just subsidising the exiting bad system. Let the free market work that will bring college cost down dramatically. (Principle 6)

4. You need to better explain what you mean on that one.

5 but you labeled 6) Elimination of tax codes that allow generational wealth transfer without taxation. WHY?? I should be allowed to pass my money that taxes have already been paid for on to anyone I want and since taxes on the earning of this money have been paid you are saying that my money is to be double taxed. How is that fair and equitable??? (Principle 6 and 9)

6. but you labeled 7) A legal system that treats all equally. Ummm the laws already exist and we don't need any more laws and regulation...Just implement and enforce the existing ones and under the CONSTITUTION all men (and women ) are treated under existing US laws.

CourtJester, your initial post sound more Progressive/Socialist to me than liberal. I suggest you go back and research Liberalism and truely understand what it means because your post violates some of the 10 core principles about being a true Liberal. But just to get your started....here is the 10 core principles of being a Liberal.:pc:

Principle 1. The life of each individual is an absolute and universal moral value. No non-aggressive individual's life, liberty, or property may be legitimately sacrificed for any goal.
Principle 2. Every individual owns his body, his mind, and the labor thereof, including the physical objects legitimately obtained through such labor.
Principle 3. Every individual has the right to pursue activities for the betterment of his life - including its material, intellectual, and emotional aspects - by using his own body and property, as well as the property of consenting others.
Principle 4. The rights of an individual to life, liberty, and property are inherent to that individual's nature. They are not granted by other human beings, and they cannot be taken away by any entity.
Principle 5. The initiation of physical force, the threat of such force, or fraud against any individual is never permissible - irrespective of the position and character of the initiator. However, proportionate force may be used to retaliate and defend against aggression.
Principle 6. The sole fundamental purpose of government is to protect the rights of individuals by engaging in actions specifically delegated to the government by its constituents. Government is not the same as society, nor is the government entitled to sacrifice some non-aggressive individuals to advance the well-being of others.
Principle 7. Every individual has the absolute right to think and express any ideas. Thought and speech are never equivalent to force or violence and ought never to be restricted or to be subject to coercive penalties. Specifically, coercion and censorship on the basis of religious or political ideas are not acceptable under any circumstances.
Principle 8. Commerce, technology, and science are desirable, liberating forces that are capable of alleviating historic ills, improving the quality of human life, and morally elevating human beings. The complete freedom of trade, innovation, and thought should be preserved and supported for all human beings in the world.
Principle 9. Accidents of birth, geography, or ancestry do not define an individual and should not result in manmade restrictions of that individual's rights or opportunities. Every individual should be judged purely on his or her personal qualities, including accomplishments, character, and knowledge.
Principle 10. There are no "natural" or desirable limits to human potential for good, and there is no substantive problem that is necessarily unsolvable by present or future human knowledge, effort, and technology. It is a moral imperative for humans to expand their mastery of the universe indefinitely and in such a manner as will reinforce the survival and flourishing of all non-aggressive individuals.

Warmest Regards,

Classical Liberal

Being on the left flank of social liberalism what I basically want is for people to have rights and liberties upheld by the government enough to empower each individual to pursue happiness in life and be as free of coercion and domination as reasonably possible to ensure along the way. In accordance with that core mission, I want:

(1.) Constitutional republicanism, rule of law, and limited government
(2.) Federalism, emphasizing regionalist decentralization of authority
(3.) Representative democracy, in both politics and in the workplace
(4.) A market economy with competing and for-profit workers' co-ops
(5.) Rights of the individual along the lines of, but not limited to, these
(6.) Humanitarian agenda that balances globalism and civic nationalism
(7.) Checks & balances, separation of powers to ward off oppressors
(8.) Free international trade with some protectionism by LDCs allowed
(9.) Fluid labor markets and less business regulation than today, overall
(10.) A focus on quality of process and the accessibility of opportunities

I certainly have no plans to make the rich poor, do not believe everyone should receive a uniform income - rather that there should be rules regarding how compensation is awarded in an effort to avoid gross misappropriations of excess or deficiency to individual workers, and government policies sought to be indifferent to racial categories. There is not such thing as a free lunch of course, and a complete dismantling of the armed forces is not what I've got in mind, yet you do have me (though perhaps not the Court Jester) on a couple points. I do someday hope the U.S. dissolves, and I believe every person should have enough guaranteed income to eek by regardless of employment status.

Classical Liberal:

I agree with most of what was written in your last post. Your principles are ones I adhere to for the most part, too. In Principle 1 I would want to amend "property" to read "personal property," in Principle 3 would change "own body and property" to "own body and personal property," and in Principle 7 would rephrase "absolute right" into "social right." The only one in the list I reject outright in number four, since I do not believe in natural law, while in principle eight I disagree with pursuing complete freedom of trade (which I think conflicts with the individual's economic and inter-generational rights). Though not a classical liberal, that branch of political thought has a significant amount of influence on my views!

Nice post Redalgo but the 10 core principles of Liberalism are not my own rather Liberalism first became a distinct political movement during the Age of Enlightenment. These core 10 principles were a developement by Adam Smith, John Locke, Jean-Baptiste Say, Thomas Malthus, and David Ricardo, stressing the belief in free market and natural law, utilitarianism, and progress. Therefore I would not dare to change the brilliance of those 10 core principles in any way shape or form.

These 10 form the foundational of Liberalism and free markets..... to modify them by one word changes the entire meaning and distorts the definitions. That is revisionism and I am totally against any form of revision to these ten brilliantly conceived principles.

Liberals want never ending racial preferences which blatantly discriminate against low-mid income Whites.

For that alone, they need to go, and soon.

Kurmugeon,

You are confusing Liberal with Progressives and Socialists. They are not the same.:wall: Progressives are the ones that started eugenics with George Bernard Shaw and Margret Sanger (founder of Planned Parenthood).Look to the Progressives and Socialists for racial problems.

Make sure you get your terms right first.

Hillary Clinton is a progressive, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vji48Hejgzg
Mitt Romney is a progressive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMcjJEXt9To
Barrack Obama is a Socialist bordering on Communist...look at his influences Frank Marshall Davis (celibrated Communist)http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cMaw4II1rng

True Liberals that follow a Liberalism policy are the ones fighting for freedom, free markets, and a limited government. Watch this video; it will be the most enlightening 7 minutes of your life and if you truely believe in freedom it will change your mind and you too will become a Liberal.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iU-8Uz_nMaQ

Classical Liberal.

P.S. Don't look to Conservatives either. They only look to keep the existing (i.e. conserve/preserve) George W. Bush is an excellent example of the big government conservative that Eisenhower warned us about. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faicVnXcJsw and the current field of so called good Republicans are really conservatives that want to keep more of the same. Remember it was Republicans that brought us the Patriot Act that invades and takes away your freedoms!!!

I want a helicopter …

And my wants are like the wants of anyone else.
What you want doesn't make a difference until you do what is necessary to achieve it.
The only real difference is that for me to get what I want … I have to accept that it is my responsibility.

I bet I get a helicopter before Liberalism cures social inequality.

Several points.
1) There are many examples of more equitable health care systems and incidentally ones with better overall outcomes. See Canada, France, What the US has is two systems, one for the wealthy, retired and insured and another for Everone else. I have some idea of this having had to go to India for surgery because I could not get insurance at any price.

2) An easy start for education equality would be funding that doesn't depend on property taxes. Poor areas less funding etc.

3) Different tax rates for capital gains and dividends is a fairly recent change. The American economy worked just fine before the change.

4) If you know any families with real wealth you will know that Fortunes made generations ago continue to support many heirs who do absolutely nothing to earn money and yet the fortunes continue to multiply. Generation skipping trusts, Roth IRA's, overseas accounts, valuing assets at price rather than current

Dear classical Liberal,

I wasn't speaking of classic liberalism but rather liberalism as it is understood in this century. As for generational transfer of wealth without taxation you might want to research about stepped up basis for capital gains as part of the IRS law as it applies to inheritance.

Respectfully

If you are suggesting that the modern day leftist is a true liberal, you've already started this thread off on the wrong foot.
How do you suggest we go about this?
The three main factors in the rise of healthcare cost:
Advancement in medicine and technology: The use of costly advanced medical technology and prescription drugs is one of the drivers of cost in healthcare. It takes money to develop these.

Longer life spans and chronic illness: People are living longer, and with advanced age you have chronic illness, which accounts for almost 75% of healthcare cost. While you're at it, factor in the staggering obesity rate in this country.
Administrative cost: it's estimated that 7% to 10% of healthcare cost are do to admin(e.g. reserves, taxes, profits/losses) of both government and private healthcare.
So, by simply saying you want affordable care for all is rather ambiguous. How do you aim to achieve it?
And, until you tackle the three main factors in driving cost up, you'll achieve nothing.
Umm, didn't we try this little pipe dream not to long ago, with the result of sinking our and half the world economy?
Maybe you should focus on primary education first, the US is ranked 17th overall in eduction performance, and in a global economy that has dire consequences.
How about trying the fairest tax system of all, a flat tax or consumption based tax? Oh wait, that doesn't fit in with the leftist class warfare rhetoric.
There's another term for that, it's called grave robbery. Not only do you want to tax the living, but the dead as well.
we have a great legal system, but idiotic laws. Try reforming laws first.
Feel free to look at responses in a objective way.
