Well, Eden was a guy so maybe he had a garden and Adam and Eve were tenant farmers.

    2 Chronicles 29:12 (NKJV) = Then these Levites arose: Mahath the son of Amasai and Joel the son of Azariah, of the sons of the Kohathites; of the sons of Merari, Kish the son of Abdi and Azariah the son of Jehallelel; of the Gershonites, Joah the son of Zimmah and Eden the son of Joah;

Isaiah 37:12 (CEV) = The Assyrian kings before me destroyed the towns of Gozan, Haran, Rezeph, and everyone from Eden who lived in Telassar. What good did their gods do them?

Ezekiel 27:23 (NKJV) = Haran, Canneh, Eden, the merchants of Sheba, Assyria, and Chilmad were your merchants.

Ezekiel 31:1-9 (MSG) = In the eleventh year, on the first day of the third month, God's Message came to me: "Son of man, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt, that pompous old goat: "'Who do you, astride the world, think you really are? Look! Assyria was a Big Tree, huge as a Lebanon cedar, beautiful limbs offering cool shade, Skyscraper high, piercing the clouds. The waters gave it drink, the primordial deep lifted it high, Gushing out rivers around the place where it was planted, And then branching out in streams to all the trees in the forest. It was immense, dwarfing all the trees in the forest— Thick boughs, long limbs, roots delving deep into earth's waters. All the birds of the air nested in its boughs. All the wild animals gave birth under its branches. All the mighty nations lived in its shade. It was stunning in its majesty— the reach of its branches! the depth of its water-seeking roots! Not a cedar in God's garden came close to it. No pine tree was anything like it. Mighty oaks looked like bushes growing alongside it. Not a tree in God's garden was in the same class of beauty. I made it beautiful, a work of art in limbs and leaves, The envy of every tree in Eden, every last tree in God's garden.'"

Ezekiel 31:16 (NKJV) = I made the nations shake at the sound of its fall, when I cast it down to hell together with those who descend into the Pit; and all the trees of Eden, the choice and best of Lebanon, all that drink water, were comforted in the depths of the earth.

Ezekiel 36:35 (NKJV) = So they will say, ‘This land that was desolate has become like the garden of Eden; and the wasted, desolate, and ruined cities are now fortified and inhabited.’

Joel 2:3 (NKJV) = A fire devours before them, And behind them a flame burns; The land is like the Garden of Eden before them, And behind them a desolate wilderness; Surely nothing shall escape them.

Amos 1:5 (KJV) = I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.

Ezekiel 28:11-19 (MSG) = God's Message came to me: "Son of man, raise a funeral song over the king of Tyre. Tell him, A Message from God, the Master: "You had everything going for you. You were in Eden, God's garden. You were dressed in splendor, your robe studded with jewels: Carnelian, peridot, and moonstone, beryl, onyx, and jasper, Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald, all in settings of engraved gold. A robe was prepared for you the same day you were created. You were the anointed cherub. I placed you on the mountain of God. You strolled in magnificence among the stones of fire. From the day of your creation you were sheer perfection... and then imperfection—evil!—was detected in you. In much buying and selling you turned violent, you sinned! I threw you, disgraced, off the mountain of God. I threw you out—you, the anointed angel-cherub. No more strolling among the gems of fire for you! Your beauty went to your head. You corrupted wisdom by using it to get worldly fame. I threw you to the ground, sent you sprawling before an audience of kings and let them gloat over your demise. By sin after sin after sin, by your corrupt ways of doing business, you defiled your holy places of worship. So I set a fire around and within you. It burned you up. I reduced you to ashes. All anyone sees now when they look for you is ashes, a pitiful mound of ashes. All who once knew you now throw up their hands: 'This can't have happened! This has happened!'

The story is flowery fluff describing the downfall of a local potentate and the downfall of the Assyrians (probably at the hands of the Babylonians) and the threats against the Egyptians. There's no invisible sky God. It's just run-of-the mill war, pain, and suffering between superstitious humans.

Because there is a man named Eden in Scripture - you assume the garden in Eden was his?

Gee, if I meet a man named Baltimore should I assume the city with that name is his too?

On another unanswered question, how could Cain marry his sister
when Adam did not have any more children for a few hundred years?

I don't know if all snake cults callled them ouroboros.. probaby not.. but they were common on the Arabian Peninsula , ancient Egypt, the Levant...

In fact.. some scholars think the snake in the garden of Eden was about dueling religions..

There is also some limited references to snakes in the story of Moses... that may have escaped the 5th century BC rewrite.

The "snake" who beguiled Eve was not a physical snake.

    Snake is a Hebrew idiom.

Like Sitting Bull is not a sitting bull.

We use these terms in English all the time:
"the guy was a snake oil salesman" -
that is, he was a smooth talker who could sell snake oil to anyone.
(There is no such thing as snake oil. That is the point - a snake oil salesman can sell ice to an Eskimo.)

Britain's leading alternative medicine researcher has reignited a public row
with Clarence House by branding the Prince of Wales a "snake oil salesman".

We also say - the guys a real pig.

Or, he's as clever as a fox.

Get real people, Eve was not seduced by literal snake.

The universe is a big place full of possibilities, including the possibility that a being exists that can only be described as God.
On the other hand the bible is a work of fiction.

When Cain murder Abel they were still single and they were the first two children of Adam and Eve. After Abel's death and Cain's banishment, Adam and Eve had many more children all living up to 200+ years old. And they multiply and started to scatter all over the world, their relationship started incestuously that would slowly diluted to distant cousins from one generation to another until tribes started to develop also during their time the genealogy was still pure and un-corrupted. The corruption will start after the sons of God took wives the daughters of men. Things begun to go really wild and it was at that time that God decided to put a stop to it with Noah's flood. Spirits are not supposed to have sexual relationship with humans, why the Bible did not specifically say.

GENESIS 6:1 Now it came to pass, when men began to multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters were born to them, 2 that the sons of God saw the daughters of men, that they were beautiful; and they took wives for themselves of all whom they chose. 3 And the LORD said, "My Spirit shall not strive with man forever, for he is indeed flesh; yet his days shall be one hundred and twenty years." 4 There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterward, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.

Even if there is an entity with magical powers it still wouldn't mean that it's a legitimate god. You could take a lot of modern day junk back into the past and convince the local yokels that you are a god. I require more proof than Gideon and Jacob asked for.

I like the Annunaki story ! .. That this is what folks wandering around the planet 6000 years ago believed is quite fascinating.

Even Elijah tells us that he was the only prophet of the "one true God' in all of Israel. .. 450 to Baal and 400 to Asherah. The finding of all the clay idols seems to confirm Elijah's story.

The number of monotheistic Israelites .. Solomon down through the Babylonian captivity was darn close to zero.

That is, of course, mythical history on a par with the Lakota legend of their people emerging from Wind Cave.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wind_Cave_National_Park
The Lakota (Sioux), an indigenous people who live in the Black Hills region of South Dakota, spoke of a hole that blew air, a place they consider sacred as the site where they first emerged from the underworld where they had lived before the demiurge creation of the world.

Samuel Noah Kramer studied texts from Sumer his whole life.. translating the earlier myths of Babylon and the Ugarit..

To get a feel for these much earlier myths that the Hebrews borrowed you might start with "History Begins at Sumer"... which of course it did not factually.

Sites are being excavated that are over 11,000 years old.

Sites in Turkey, Palestine and the Levant that have been excavated..

    Natufians would be a reference..

This is a starting point.. Its really interesting.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Natufian_culture

The Natufian culture ( /nəˈtjuːfiən/) was an Epipaleolithic culture that existed from 13,000 to 9,800 years ago in the Levant, a region in the Eastern Mediterranean. It was unusual in that it was sedentary, or semi-sedentary, before the introduction of agriculture. The Natufian communities are possibly the ancestors of the builders of the first Neolithic settlements of the region, which may have been the earliest in the world. There is some evidence for the deliberate cultivation of cereals, specifically rye, by the Natufian culture, at the Tell Abu Hureyra site, the site for earliest evidence of agriculture in the world.[1] Generally, though, Natufians made use of wild cereals. Animals hunted include gazelles

Well, how does that information have any correlation to the story of Adam and Eve, and does that information necessarily discount the story of Adam and Eve. Perhaps the earliest known member of the Natufians were a couple who could have been known as the first man and woman.... (ie...Adam and Eve)? Cultural identities are something that evolved through time by the minds of man... therefore, the "Natufians" might well be the ancestors of the Hebrews or Jews... There is no certifiable timeline on which to base the stories of the Bible, therefore to reach a conclusion that the Natufians predated what is stated in the Bible is sheer speculation.

First off, is there any basis on which to accept the bible's creation story? Since its 6-day creation account is clearly mythical, akin to other creation stories from the ancient world, and since the facts at hand do not support this particular account, I for one see no reason to take it seriously and try to interpret history by it. I mean, just an age of 13,000 to 9,800 years already places the Natufian culture before the Genesis timeline would permit.

And what certification is there that will validate the 'timeline' presented by the Bible? Then there is the problem with such Bible people as Methuselah who (according to that Bible timeline) lived to be hundreds of years of age.... while others in the timeline are not stated as to how long they lived. Using that Bible timeline as a point of reference is somewhat ambiguous IMHO. Subsequently your claim as to when a particular people were first recognized is without credible reference sources to allow you to make such conclusions.

There is a scholarly investigation of the claims about Methuselah and others living to extreme age. The consensus seems to be that early scribes made the mistake of counting sheaves of grain with human years.. a different counting method.

In that context Methuselah was very old.. probably living to age 90.

The Bible should really be viewed as a morality tale about where we come from and our relationship to God.. a teaching narrative.

Not necessarily. The creation story is a very unique story which is all too often misinterpreted due to a lack of attention being given to the detail of words used in that creation story. I posed this question once before in another thread: Where exactly (exact chapter and verses ) in the Bible is the creation story told? So far no-one has given a response to that question. Want to give it a try? Then comes the problem with the many interpretations that have been given to scripture over the years. Interpretations given in account for the various words used... but still not comprehending what was being stated. No-where in those scriptures (those exact scriptures which relate the creation story) is there any time-line established for that creation story. IMHO... people really do need to learn to pay attention to what they are reading.

Again, with no way to certify the 90 year speculation, the point you attempt to make is a moot point.
