What you call a self fulfilling prophecy is what scientists call rejecting the null hypothesis. Assume the null until it can be rejected. Or we can use abductive logic, or falsificationism, or positivism. You literally do it all the time too.

 

Manipulating results to conform to expectations is not science. The exact word escapes me at the moment, but it's in the 'dishonest' category.

 

Yeah that’s called making a hypothesis. We can even include making the dataset as part of that.

 

Demonstrate this to be true.

 

Once again, the basics.
You set where you would like to end up.
You run the experiment.
The results tell you if your thinking is wrong or right.
YOU don't change the results to reach your goal, you change the experiment.

The closest science can get to assessing "global warming" is based on discredit original modeling software (hard knee, I think they called it). It is reasonable therefore to not use error-ridden original data but instead more reliable...oh wait. They had to change to global climate change once that got said. Mysteries upon mysteries what they changed a name that was steaming bullroar from yon git-go.

It is not Dark Ages thinking to mistrust new ideas until they are rigidly fairly tested by impartial examiners.

It is not possible in the science world without kowtowing to left-wing editorial demands which may kill months of sincere labor because of an innocent remark however brief. Scientists need grants. Without the various societies' journals (American Electrical, etc.) publishing those months of work, they are in a word flaboozled.

 

Who won people tell me science and scientists over and over it's like they're trying to convince themselves, especially when they present absolutely nothing.

 

It might be because I had to take a years worth of classes on how to science I can say these things.

Because it turns out that the “little White man” who raised my ire isn’t exactly white. He isn’t even really a man.

Be aware that "White Fragility" is not only be taught in corporations and in government agencies, but the book is being shipped in bulk to public schools. If you have white children, you may need to hire a decompression therapist who specializes in disentangling people from Cult indoctrination. I can't imagine how much white on white bullying will take place on school grounds after watching the video below.

These people (in the video below) are supposed to be adults. A male member of the NYC Education Council gets reamed for "unconscious" white superiority and racism during an Education Council teleconference meeting by two other council members. Woke White Karens. His crime: His daughter's friend brought over her black nephew and (1) the man had the audacity to bounce the baby on his knee and (2) make a joking comment that his "house is now integrated".

Understanding that police shootings of of black fathers is vanishingly rare. Really rare.

 

The problem with racism of course is that it won't go away til people quit effing talking about it.

Most people aren't interested in talking about race because history reveals that most of the people who do don't want an actual conversation. What they want is three day lecture series where they do the lecturing and you shut up and listen. And of course none of it will actually have anything to do with the chimaerical goal of improving race relations, and everything to do with increasing the power base of the demogogical asshat giving the lecture.

 

It's sad. So much healing could happen if people would be willing to just communicate. Sigh.

 

Communicate what? I don't talk to people because they're white or black I talk to them because they are people and I'm interested in what they might have to say. The color of the wrapping paper they are draped in doesn't tell me a damn thing about anyone.

If you're too afraid to insult, critique, or otherwise 'upset' someone because their skin isn't the same as yours, it means you have zero respect for them. You are literally denying them their human agency.
