Pretty much the same here and I grew up five miles from UC Berkeley and the 75 cent hit of four way windowpane? Today THC concentrations are beyond my tolerances, but good news! I have been reading that growers have found old strains of sinsemilla in Africa and will soon be offering comparable potencies of the 80/90, think of it as Utah 3.2 beer for old bastages like me ;)

In those states I would assume any violation of federal drug laws are subjected to consequences as enforced by the DEA and our courts.

Stupid. Just make it legal already. Regulate it like alcohol then tax it and make billions. Will create a lot of jobs as well or at least a bunch of people normally unemployable=) Its a no brainer.

In Colorado it passed by referendum (or maybe reeferendum??, that's a joke). A lot of conservatives were FOR legalization, like Tom Tancredo. Many Democrats were against it, like Gov. Hickenlooper.

It should be left up to the States.

Confiscate the banks, dope farms, houses, stores and fine the states massively. Use the $ to deport illegals.

And Prohibition, another fine Republican idea (that spawned the mafia) continues this time with Mary Jane. There's a great deal of money to be made, locking up Americans. I wonder how much Aramark and the rest of the Prison Industrial Complex contributed to GOP interests in 2016.

Lol. No better than a liberal.

Wanting to take from hard working people for no other reason than, "Well (*)(*)(*)(*) you".

Seriously, what kind of country did you think the founders wanted? One where the government could steal someone's entire life because they grew a plant?

Marijuana is regulated by the federal government via the controlled substance act and has authority over state law. I would have expected to see it's classification as a schedule one drug challenged first. It's not highly addictive and does have medical benefits which should be enough to have it removed.

I don't think trump is that concerned with pot, and might very well do something to get it off of the drug schedule. Before he leaves office. He knows it isn;t different than Prohibition. Trump might surprise some people here, later on once the chaos starts when the dea starts busting pot stores where it is not legal under state law to sell it .

What is your opinion of the National firearm act's constitutionality?

The 18th Amendment passed the House with 141 Democrats in favor and 137 Republicans in favor. It passed the Democrat controlled Senate 47 to 8. The blame game doesn't really hold up here, does it?

You’d think this miserable president would be happy for folks to sit down with a joint after a day’s work. That way, they’d mellow out instead of getting angry because we’re stuck with a big orange turd in the Oval Office.

If he wanted to do something to improve public health, he would try to get rid of liquor. Drunks cause a million times more problems than potheads. But with trump, nothing is ever about what is good for anyone else. It’s always about trump being able to exercise maximum power and control over everything and everyone around him. That’s what tyrants do.

I have not researched the NFA but on the surface it appears to infringe on the 2nd amendment.

What has Trump said about the matter? His spokesman said he would leave it up to the Justice Department. How is Trump a tyrant? If (a big IF) he wants to get rid of recreational marijuana he's a tyrant, but if he wants to get rid of liquor that's ok? Odd.

Now Colorado holds national conferences to warn states of their mistakes.

Arguments for legalization are small minded and selfish-- made by people who want to get high without consequences.

They ignore the danger to children.

They ignore the brain damage to users 25 years of age and under.

They ignore the fact that Big Marijuana is a big money industry exactly as immoral as big tobacco . The laws are cleverly written with hidden prohibitions that take voters by surprise when passed. They are crooked in favor of monopoly and hooking in the next generation.

The taxes have gone so high on pot that a huge black market has developed. And neighboring states are now launching law suits against MJ states. Colorado is making enough to pay for increased legislation, increased emergency services and increased law enforcement and nothing has gone to the schools : surprise surprise.

Accidents and absenteeism is on the rise in the workplace.

In years past, states that had a drinking age of 18 were deprived of federal funding until they complied with the national age of 21. States were similarly threatened to bring their speed limits down to the national 65 mph. I would not be surprised if legal MJ states had federal funding pulled as well.

Yes, Democrats in Colorado warns other States of our mistakes. The same Democrats who were against legalization.

I don't smoke marijuana yet I voted in favor of legalization. If you want to call me small minded and selfish that's your right, but I don't want to get high and if I did I'd accept the consequences. Should the consequences for getting high be any different than getting drunk?

Oh no, the children! That excuse is used by liberals for gun control too, and it doesn't hold water. Set speed limits to 20 mph if you want to save children's lives, then go after the rest.

    No evidence of brain damage.

I don't know what Big Marijuana is, the cartels in Mexico who benefit from prohibition?

Black market? What do you think we have in states that haven't legalized marijuana? Yes, it is still cheaper in Colorado to buy marijuana off the street, but the quality is questionable and the act is still illegal, so law abiding citizens go to the legal stores.

Accidents and absenteeism? Is there some source that attribute that (assuming it's true) to legalization?

States being coerced by the Federal Government is wrong and unconstitutional. States have rights, despite those rights being trampled on for the last 100 years, if not longer.

Yeah why would I buy garbage on the street when I can go for a 10 minute walk and get good quality stuff? As far as the taxes argument, yeah they are high, but when I lived in a state where I had to buy illegally, I was paying double what I do here even with the high taxes. To suggest taxes are being used to gouge the consumer isn't exactly accurate.

I'm guessing the Feds will hit the banks first. Any that are FDIC insured or doing business nationally will be fined bigly. It's out of Trump's hands. Most of his cabinet is much more conservative than he is. It won't be the DOJ, in the end it will be the Treasury Department and Commerce Secretary's that will put states out of business.
