Why are Catholics (outspoken ones) hated so much?

I don't hate all Christians - just the ones who act like self-righteous pricks; the ones who try to push their religion on others; the ones who don't treat women or gays as equals; the ones who defend a greedy organization that knows it has people raping children and does nothing but shuffles those monsters around to another place and does all it can to hide them from justice. Quit acting like you're persecuted simply for being a Christian. You're not being persecuted, and what opposition you face is not simply about you being a Christian. That's a pant load and a half. Take some responsibility for your part in a horrible organization. And to claim that we're wicked when we just don't want your religion shoved in our face or your priests hands in our children's pants is disgusting.

This one in particular is some top grade manipulation. You could attach those words to any crazy cult and they would work to keep followers faithful. It's amazing just how powerful words can be.

You can say most anything and get hate for it. Christians issue death threats against people they don't like, too. Waah.

That would be the legacy of medieval Roman Catholic dominance and their rather violent efforts to try and stop the Protestant Reformation, I'd say.

 

Go to some of the catholic forums and see how they treat those who aren't Catholic; that might give you an idea why so much hate is directed at them.

Probably because the KKK was not prosecuted as a terrorist organization in the 1920s and 1930s and snuffed out. That let their hatred of Jews, Catholics, Socialists, Communists, Liberals, Feminists, and of course Blacks poison the nation. It's going to take a long time for that damage to heal. The residue will probably never go away.

 

That's by the way a very interesting form of hate against all Catholics.

 

The problem isn't so much that people criticize the Catholic Church. It's that, 95% of the time, they criticize the Church from a position of total ignorance. Bishop Sheen said that "There are not a hundred people in America who hate the Catholic Church. There are millions of people who hate what they wrongly believe to be the Catholic Church — which is, of course, quite a different thing."

One would think ignorance of something would make one relatively humble in one's opinions, yet the opposite is more usually true. The less they know, the more mrore loudly and pigheadedly they parade them. I only wish that more people would stop formulating die-hard conclusions about the Church (not to mention most other subjects) on nothing more than their own vague impressions, confirmed by water-cooler banter and glances at news headlines.

 

Because many view evangelizing as force-feeding the Bible to those that have no desire to be Christian. Its like rape, no means no... but many Christians just see no as a challenge and press the issue harder. One of many reasons that I am not a Christian. To bad so many Christians in general fail to see how their actions push so many away instead of towards Christianity.

And when I read Matthew 10:14 I see an example of narcissism. But like all the passages in the Bible they are subjective and wide open to interpretation... even to Christians.

Based on 2,000 years of historical evidence should a normal rational person conclude that the leaders of the Catholic church have consistently and diligently followed the Christian doctrine as detailed in the Bible?

 

If people follow the so-called St. Augustine won't they be following a long-dead man instead of the Christian doctrine as specified in the New Testament?

 

So does this mean you consider Christians rapists if they try to evangelize you and narcissists if they take the hint and don't try to evangelize. It sounds like you may be upset that Christians think their views are correct. But why should that be surprising? If they didn't think their views were most probably correct, they wouldn't hold those views, would they? You think your views are most probably correct, don't you? It's up to you how and how much you wish to go about trying to convince others of them, but whatever the standard is for that ought to apply for everybody.

 

A normal, rational person that knows nothing about Church history would admit he has no idea, one way or the other, because he knows nothing about it. Do I know how well various Buddhist leaders have followed the precepts of Gautama for the past 2500 years? No, I don't because I'm not a Buddhist, haven't looked into it, and would hardly know where to begin even if I wanted to look into it. So I certainly wouldn't be presume to possess strong opinions on the subject.

 

Its probably a good idea to live your faith rather than banging others over the head with it.

They continue to be part of an organization that has protected and employed known child molesters. They give this organization money and social status. Why SHOULDN'T that deserve hatred?
