im keeping a close eye on statements like this from groups that are red, and maybe they can start communicating between each others to start a secession spring . http://blogs.dallasobserver.com/unfairpark/2012/11/texas_nationalist_movement_wou.php http://www.texasnationalist.com/index.php/info/news/featured/1901-official-statement-on-election
Secession has to be approved by congress, and Texas being one of the few republican states along with Alaska who contribute to national budget since they sit on oil reserves, are not going to leave without a fight from the federal government.
Not for Texas, it is still the Republic of Texas, having retained that and the right to secede as a condition when it joined the US as a state.
so if we get together 9 states together we don't need the congresses approval to write up a new Constitution?. http://caselaw.lp.findlaw.com/data/constitution/article07/
Even if any of this were practical, they won't survive selling their oil with sanctions by the United States. They will be treated like Iran and forced back into the union.
Texas is majority Hispanic. Those anchor babies are going to grow up and start voting Democrat, and then Texas will no longer be a red state.
but then us military would have to fight the national guard in texas, since its controlled by the Texas state governor. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Texas_Military_Forces http://science.howstuffworks.com/national-guard.htm
Actually, that's incorrect. If you're going to post "facts," make sure they're correct first. http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/chs/popdat/ST2012.shtm
If Texas attempted to secede, the Texan economy would disintegrate overnight. It is heavily built upon US government contract. A large portion of wealth in Texas comes from military bases, businesses that cater to military members, and companies the build things for the US government.
This secession (*)(*)(*)(*) is such baloney. The state government, even in Texas, is not stupid enough to secede from the union, it's all a right wing fantasy,
The Texas National Guard would have a hard time fighting when a good portion of their armories and vehicle yards are on US military bases.
but what if most of those bases there military men /women just go along with Texas and just say there nationalized, what can the us states really do? other then military force to bring them back.
They are correct http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/48000.html (2011) Population, 2011 estimate - 25,674,681 Persons of Hispanic or Latino Origin, percent definition and source info Persons of Hispanic or Latino Origin, percent, 2011 (b) - 38.1% (9,782,053) White persons not Hispanic, percent definition and source info White persons not Hispanic, percent, 2011 - 44.8% (11,502,257) This was 2011. In 2012 you can expect more Hispanics and about the same amount of whites. Add an estimated 1.7 million illegals in Texas, and Hispanics are the majority. If you're going to attempt to post "rebuttals", make sure they're correct first.
You really think huge portions of the US military would forget their home states, renounce their citizenship, and turn traitor? I'm not even active duty anymore and if Texas seceded, I would be on Ft Sam within 30 minutes to rejoin and fight to save the union. You also think the US government will sit by and let hundreds of billions in property get stolen...ahem "nationalized"? Texas would be blockaded inside of a week.
No. They'll side with the Constitution and US laws, which says that states can't secede. The person who sits in the White House is insignificant in that regard.
