Yup....the U.S and others did some stupid stuff in Iraq, we even messed around in Libya. Regretful stupidity and extremely expensive (blood and treasure), but not a creation event. There is no mandatory death sentence for leaving Islam in the Koran. On the contrary it is made clear that Muhamad, speaking for God, says it is for each person to decide.

Given that it is not in the Koran, it is not Islam. I once found someone who took both the books Hadith and Koran and illustrated where people got this idea from but that given that it is not so in the Koran, indeed quite the opposite, it cannot be Islam.

It is ironic that both the extremists and the Islam haters read Islam's books the same way.

On the other hand when people are gathered together in a religious state as for instance Iran which still gives the death sentence for Apostacy, it is easy to see why they would feel that if people stopped believing then their elite position would be in danger - hence see them as traitors and so want them dead - not in any way saying this is right. It is however being a traitor not changing one's mind about Islam which the Hadith gives the death sentence for.

Bye the way I have heard and have no reason to disbelieve that if you just try reading the Koran and Hadith you will not have a clue.
