So many threads on Syria and Russia and see? No worries our POTUS is working it all out with Leonardo as we speak! Our commander in chief is on top of it

PRESIDENT OBAMA: “There’s already some really interesting work — not definitive but powerful — showing that the droughts that happened in Syria contributed to the unrest and the Syrian civil war. Well, if you start magnifying that across a lot of states, a lot of nation states that already contain a lot of poor people who are just right at the margins of survival, this becomes a national security issue. And, that’s why even as we have members of Congress who scoff at climate change at the same time as they are saluting and wearing flag pins and extolling their patriotism they’re not paying attention to our Joints Chief of Staff and the Pentagon who are saying this is one of the most significant national security threats that we face over the next fifty years.”

    Yea, typical moonbat logic.

Centuries of savage un-evolved Islamic tribal warfare not to blame.

Obama sending billions of dollars and contain ship full of military hardware to his Muslim brothers not to blame.

Advance man made global climate warming change to blame.

If we tax oil companies and redistribute the revenue to our friends then these peace loving wallawhols will stop fighting.

    Makes sense to me!

    Herp-derp-de-derp!

DiDi-(*)(*)(*)(*)-for-brains has produced more carbon from flying around in his private jet the past half decade than 500,000 American have throughout their entire lives combined.

Even if true, what does he think can be done about it? He's just a lame duck president talking with a has-been celebrity.

I'm sure he can think of an endless supply of government regulation to restrict your choices in use of energy and an endless supply of government funded subsidies for green energy.

Two morons who both have the carbon footprint of some countries flying their private jets to meet up with each other so they can decide how we need to conserve energy...

and Obama wonders why he gets zero respect.

Yes, thats correct, and just because hillary and obama flooded the country with guns and international terrorists, is no reason to think climate change isnt responsible.

With only a minor increase in temperature and minor decrease in precipitation I am sure the increse in population from 2 million to 23 million with the resultant increase in agriculture and the "poor water policy" all stated in the paper had nothing to do with it. Not even the IPCC claims any connection between global warming and any increase in severity of weather but hey, another paper based on model output I am sure is the last word.

People all over the world experience drought, without resorting to civil war.

I usually don't quote myself, but it bears repeating:

"Obama's worldview is that terrorism is a symptom of global inequality, caused by capitalism. That is why the left believes climate change is responsible for Islamic terrorism. By controlling climate change, they can control capitalism, which will inevitably bring the richer countries down to the level of poorer countries, which will fix the issues of inequality, which they believe will end terrorism"

"There is evidence that the 2007−2010 drought contributed to the conflict in Syria."

Such strong and confident language ;)

    http://www.pnas.org/content/112/11/3241

Nah it wasnt Jihadist at all.... /rolls eyes...

And here is the ironclad proof. Again from the study!!!!

An abundance of history books on the subject tell us that civil unrest can never be said to have a simple or unique cause. The Syrian conflict, now civil war, is no exception. Still, in a recent interview (45), a displaced Syrian farmer was asked if this was about the drought, and she replied, “Of course. The drought and unemployment were important in pushing people toward revolution. When the drought happened, we could handle it for two years, and then we said, ‘It’s enough.’” This recent drought was likely made worse by human-induced climate change, and such persistent, deep droughts are projected to become more commonplace in a warming world.

Well that says it all.. A Random farmer said something.... I guess the Jihadists will now all return to their home countries... Oh wait they didnt... Hmmm but a farmer said something how can this be?

Weird. I remember climate change being an issue in the 90's in Europe. There were no one who were talking about Islamic terrorism and global warming back then.
Guess it must an American thing?:roflol:

5 years of severe drought turned Syria into a dust bowl and that didn't help the preexisting sectarian strife.

"Didnt help" does not mean cause. Its just a distraction from the root cause of Jihad which Obama simply cant utter.

You want to discredit climatology by dumping on a Syrian farmer - who was there when it happened???

    Really?

AGW will contribute to many problems we face on this planet. But it will be only one of many factors. The fact that you eat a lot of cheeseburgers contributes to your heart attack but is not the only factor. (Some people eat a lot of cheesburgers and never get a heart attack)

Obama is right about this. For the drought drove rural farmers into the cities. It created greater poverty, and hungry people get restless. We can expect to see the same here in America, social unrest, as more people lose living wage jobs and congress cuts deeper into welfare.

So Obama is right in the sense that it provided the environment for social unrest which could be utilized by forces to remove assad. I read an article on this as the influx of people from the drought areas was happening, before the civil war, and it was talking about the social unrest that would occur if the drought did not end and people could go back to their farms.

With that said, I have little doubt that since the arabs wanted assad gone, the sunni arabs, that our CIA got involved in fomenting unrest as Hillary got busy arming anyone who would fight against assad. The drought just aided our dirty deeds.

Our foreign policy since Bush as been neocon driven foreign policy laid out in The New American Century. Google it if you want to understand why we destabilized the middle east. It is right there, in words that are understandable.
