Peat moss is a good soil conditioner but tends to be acidic. Wood chip mulch will rob nitrogen at the soil surface but when it breaks down it makes very good soil. Just don't mix wood chips with your garden soil. Peat moss as mulch will help the weeds grow. You should google BTE gardening....good stuff.
