Trump administration separated families. Reuniting them is a giant mess.

Hey, I don't care and neither do millions of other US citizens. They broke the law period. But you didn't either when Obama was POTUS.

 

What is the problem with Jeh Johnson? He was highly regarded by both parties. Those weren't kids separated from families. They were unaccompanied 16 and 17 year olds.

I don't have a problem with folks crossing the border illegally being detained. I don't think children should be split from their parents.

And then explain why adults should be kept with children they claim are related, when they have zero proof they are, and have no other documentation.

Agreed. At a minimum, if the kids are separated, there should be a system in place to reunite them either for deportation or for asylum.

While the peaceful options of preventing other nations from becoming abusive ass clowns are limited, we can do a lot more to prevent illegal immigration. One is to eliminate all the incentives drawing illegals to the US; specifically jobs and benefits. It's a lot easier to lock up those who hire, harbor or otherwise support and/or entice illegal immigrants than it is to track down illegals inside the country (about 40% of whom came here legally). Going after illegals, and only illegals, is like only going after drug users and never going after the drug dealers.

Should we separate all parents from their kids unless they can prove relation? DNA tests?

 

I don't like it either but there are some realities involved that we cannot dismiss. Prudence demands that the children be separated initially for a short time in order to determine familial relationships from coerced relationships. Beyond that the stipulated decree or order issued by the 9th circuit in 1997 demands separation at the 20 day mark.

The problem is with congress it needs to address these issues and change the law.

 

I agree, I also think we could use our resources and influence to make some of these countries better and then their citizens wouldn't feel the need to come here.
