Bernie's points is that bread lines were a good thing because in other countries, the poor would starve without any bread lines. He saw the bread lines as a positive service for the poor. And that actually makes some sense.

He also pointed out that the public transit in Moscow was very good. It is a good point that the government can handle public transportation well. He also complemented the palaces of culture they had, and their youth programs. He praised the Soviets for these specific programs, not their whole government in general.

I looked at his comments on Nicaragua. He was very clear that he didn't support the government, but that the US was wrong to keep overthrowing governments in Latin America and using out military influence to help our corporations there. To be honest, the US has a very shady history in Latin America that doesn't get mentioned in history classes.

I am not a Bernie supporter, but trying to spin his words to create fear is just morally reprehensible.
