I advised the GM I'd be filing a complaint with HR against the entire staff for the mispronunciation of my surname: Kotowski. In Polish, W is often enunciated as an F. That no one does that across the fruited plain is irrelevant - how dare you disrespect my ancestry. I also advised if I saw anyone using chopsticks with their Chinese take-out, I'd be filing another complaint for Cultural Appropriation®.

There were no more complaints about my Spanglish after that.

 

I once lived in Puerto Rico and a guayabera shirt is often worn by businessmen instead of suits. I didn’t care for them at all, but still, I was warned that gringos shouldn’t wear them. Oh, and I was often referred to as a gringo, very often, but the word just rolled off me, I didn’t care one bit.

As a guy who is Italian, German, Irish and Armenian, I've heard all the slang names from the day I was born. The Irish/German side of my family would make fun of the Italian/Armenian side. I'm immune to verbal insults and don't see why mere words make some people go off the deep end.
