Of course there are ties. Terrorists work together, especially when they have a common religious background. But, you stated that Chechens want independence because they're Muslim... I see no evidence of this. It seems like they want independence because they've been under the yoke of Soviet Russia/Russia for over 60 years.

Give the doubt they are Chechnen separatists, that have a Islamic base, this incident seems a little ill focused. What I mean is, the US had very little is any Chechnen involvement, either for or against. Usually these people are trying to make a point, I don't see how this would give them any credence.

What facts am I ignoring?

 

Why would Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn and those of their ilk want to jeopardize their friend Barack Obama's "CHANGE" we can believe in by detonating bombs? Certainly, Obama's non-violent Change is doing enough radical damage to America to make even hard core terrorists smile.

 

Interestingly, the dead brother had listed on Facebook as a life goal "money and career". They aren't the usual goals espoused by Islamic jihadists. They are western infidel goals and so usually not publicly acknowledged as worthy of a good Muslim. Even though "Islam" was listed as a "World view", the stated materialistic focus does seem a bit inconsistent.

The distortions of the facts are never ending.

The two teenages identified are Russians and not Islamic terrorists with al Qaeda connections. While it is very probable that they are Muslims (not confirmed) but they came to the United States at least ten years ago and don't have any al Qaeda terrorist connections. If they had a political agenda based upon religion it would have related to Christian persecution of Muslims in the United States. We don't actually have the motive for the bombings, and may never actually know, but we do know that they were too young when immigrating to the United States to even have a religious agenda related to the religious conflict near Chechnya, Russia, where they immigrated from as young children.

There is no excuse or rationalization for any act of terrorism. We can all agree on that.

At the same time there is no excuse for the demonization of Muslims by some of the "religious-right" in America either. There are over 1 billion peace loving Muslims in the world today but we have leaders of the "religious-right" such as John Hagee openly propagating religious hatred against Muslims in the world.

We should rightfully condemn any act of terrorism but we should also condemn the distortions being progagated by the "religious-right" in America with their anti-Muslim hate messages. We should rightfully condemn the terrorist acts in the Middle East but should also be condemning the tyranny of governments we support that leads to the acts of terrorism. We must always understand "cause and effect" but many seem to only focus on the effects of religious hatred and government tyranny that is the cause behind the effects. That doesn't make the "terrorism" acceptable but until we address the "cause" we cannot elminate the "effect" that results in acts of terrorism.
