You failed to read the title of this thread. This thread concerns Trump, not Obama. If you really want to be taken seriously, try responding to my posts that deal with Trump and the issues involving N.K.

You are correct. Obama never challenged anyone he thought was a threat to this country although, he did ride a mean bicycle.

Hong Kong was a british colony for 100 years before being handed back to China in 1997. Many Hong Kong residents worried that this would result in HK becoming just like the rest of mainland China. However, the Chinese have left it pretty much as it was because it would have been economic insanity to destroy a thriving capitalist city.

Worrying that Kim Jung Un will turn SK into NK is the same thing. It would be insanity.

You can't win if you don't even know what game is being played. You should do something about that.

And what do you think your link has provided for your case? I said they aren't dismantling anything. You said they are. I say all evidence is to the contrary and you come back with this?!!
    First paragraph:
"Commercial satellite imagery of North Korea’s Yongbyon Nuclear Scientific Research Center from December 2018 indicates that while the site remains operational and is still well maintained, the main facilities do not appear to be operating. The one possible exception is the Uranium Enrichment Plant (UEP), although if it is operating, in what capacity remains unclear."
The rest of the article says nothing about dismantling and the above indicates that weapons grade material could still be made. Please explain what you think you have won? Certainly not your point much less the game.

No he's further behind. He cancelled planned military exercises without getting anything in return (what a dealmaker!) and gave Kim the recognition he was looking for but didn't earn. He also cast doubt on the abilities of US intelligence agencies which weakens the US with both allies and adversaries.

Meanwhile, North Korea and the South are continuing to deescalate along the DMZ.
Get a new narrative, the one you’re parroting isn’t working out well.

A link to an organization that closely monitors NK seemed to be more productive than the BS the left uses. The fact primary nuke facilities are not operating means something to people who can view things objectively.

I thought you might avail yourself of the reports they have available. I guess it wasn't written by Vox or WaPo, so it's of no interest to you.

I love it when people don't even read their own links.

The deescalation is a result of North-South talks which South Korea initiated on their own before Trump got involved.

From the link you didn't read:

"As part of the talks between the divided peninsula, the South's President Moon Jae-in and the North's Kim Jong-un agreed to remove some of the guard posts on the heavily fortified border.

The two leaders held a historic meeting in April, which led to talk between North Korea and the US."

That is true and South Korea and Japan were seriously concerned about rockets zooming over their heads escalating in 2016 and 2017 and those missiles were improving with longer and longer range capabilities putting pretty much all of us at higher risk. No diplomatic efforts were made so far as we know in the Obama Administration because that would be considered politically incorrect, and the situation continued to escalate.

President Trump doesn't give a rat's ass about political correctness, status quo, etc. and he approached the problem with his usual excellent business instincts. Punishing South Korea wasn't accomplishing anything other than cementing Kim's resolve. So he approached it with his typical win-win strategy--North Korea would stop terrorizing its neighbors, and dismantle its nuclear program, and we would lift sanctions on North Korea and work with them to expand and increase their economy. Kim surprisingly agreed and, while his nuclear ambitions are still debatable and we haven't seen a lot compliance yet, he has made some conciliatory moves and the missile tests stopped completely. Meanwhile all the sanctions remain in place.

Maybe a peaceful North Korea is a silly pipe dream, but for sure what we had been doing wasn't working and the Trump initiatives, however imperfect, are at least accomplishing something.

What do you mean he got nothing in return?

Do you know how much money those things cost?

    Really?

So what is the total cost then since you apparently know.

    I will wait.

The president is always protected no matter what.

    Military exercises are extra expenditures.

I'm curious why you are so gung ho about war anyways.

    Democrats are war mongers.

Folks like you are so predictable. We get it, you don’t like trump. You are no better than the people that crapped all over Obama for entering into talks with Iran. I didn’t vote either of them, but if they’re willing to negotiate with with long time enemies, I’ll give them credit, because the alternative is war.

The alternative is not war. The alternative is most likely to be status quo.
