Now's the time to destroy the billionaire class. They have more money than you can spend in a lifetime? Yachts within yachts? Poor and working class people are hurting badly?

Take half of every billionaire's net worth. Then send the checks to everyone making $250,000 or less. Then get ready to take another half.

I don't have a lot of sympathy for the ultra rich, at some exceptions, but there was a bunch of times some people wanted to destroy the billionaire class, in a not surprizing plot twist they ended to kill mostly poor people.

Wow! So much for freedom and liberty, eh? And some think that Trump and conservatives are fascist dictators...

Not many people condone theft. You are in a tiny minority.

Eating rich food is not good for one.
If they knew what was good for them, though, the rich would feed the poor. History shows that the rich have not displayed good sense in this department.

When the bill comes due for propping up the economy it’s likely the argument will be the same old same old: deep cuts in the social safety net v. a tax increase.

We’ll have to wait and see how deep the recession goes to judge the arguments.

How do you know this? Who do you think donates the most money to charities that feed people?

    Crazy talk.

Instead we need to implement the economic reforms of fdr and add some more to reverse the course.

Bridle the greed driven disemboweling of America.

Yet the current DP will never do it because they serve the elites just as the GOP does .

And now biden will insure the DP will still wear out the knees of their pants as they service our treasonous elites.

Change the economic model the GOP gave us with great help from the Clinton dems.

Yep the USSR killed the rich and most of the upper middle class and then the poor starved. So they stole food from the Ukraine and the Ukrainians starved

The rich don't have enough for this sort of thing. This is going to cost trillions. But you'll see changes in tax policy after this, no matter who's in charge.

I don't know if you've noticed, but Americans don't have the freedom and liberty they had just two weeks ago. And it's going to get a lot worse. You'll see the military deployed if stupid (mostly young) people don't stop violating "social distancing" rules.

Yes, I was thinking also to the chinese communist revolution, the one of pol pot that ended in a total genocide, and also the french revolution who took an heavy toll both on the nobility but even more on the third estate.
Clearly, I don't trust rich people, because of their power on medias, politician, I see them as a source of corruption, maybe in the 30's I would have been a commie, but now we have history books filled with enough examples.

If rich people are smart, they'll start donating sizeable money to their companies to help workers. This is going to be the worst thing that's happened to America in our lifetimes. If the ultrarich don't look like they're sacrificing in this time of trial, it's going to get ugly.

I find it interesting that just a couple weeks ago, these same very liberal folks were all too eager to make a billionaire their new king.. But oh how times change....

I'm clearly not one of those guy that cherish rich people. I tend to distrust them as I said it above. I'm very angry for instance at what some french billionnaire do in Africa as they tarnish even more the name of my country in a part of the world where there was enough poor things done.
They're not dumb or smart, just greedy, that's a flaw well shared among the ladders of society, more visible at the top however. Clearly if a few billionnaire fell of their throne with the current crisis, I won't blame thame. I'm quite afraid that the governments around the world would do their usual policy in case of crisis, give to the richest the benefit and make common the loss.

I think the flaw of some people at the left is that they hate more the rich than they love poor people. Take care of not hurting the common people in your wish of hurting rich people.

History have shown it, it's a little bit more complicated than just taking money to the rich and giving it to the poor.

I believe firmly in education and self transformation however to solve most issues.

We've only been locked down a couple of days and liberals already want to resort to cannibalism?

Oh, it's just another Marxist theft thread. Here I was hoping for something new and interesting...

What scenario do you envision? What do you mean by "going to get ugly"?

Politically ugly. Ultra-high marginal tax rates on the superrich. Maybe some attempts at minor "wealth confiscation".

But the billionaires wealth is in stocks, bonds, real estate, yaughts. Not in bags of money like Scrooge McDuck.

There is no practical way to convert shares of Microsoft into dollars except by selling them on the stock market and if you are confiscating the wealth of the wealthy who can buy them?

It's already politically ugly. Depending on the outcome of this thing we actually have a chance to coalesce either for against the government...
