Or you have buses like in Curitiba in Brazil where they have a bus by every stop once every 5 minutes and a maximum distance to walk to a bus stop being 5 minutes itself. This was published in Scientific American over 5 years ago but nobody in America paid any attention because we all have cars no matter what.

Yeah it is in some ways like that now in places like NYC and other large cities but that doesn't address California's energy problem.

With good ol' petrol powered generators on stand-by....which they all will end up having....hell yeah.

Seems like car dealers in Arizona, Nevada and Oregon are loving this ignorance.

Newsom is coddling Elon's balls trying to keep him from leaving.

Commiefornia full of cars like those in Cuba....how appropriate.

Yep. Remember when cars got 16 miles to the gallon and turned the sky grey?
Then along came California and we now get 35 MPG and no smog.

You can't build a new house in California without solar. It's the green new deal in action.

I don't think leading is the correct term. I think meddling is probably more accurate.

Yep. Everyone will have to buy a fossil fuel powered generator at their house so they can charge their car during blackouts.

The agreement grew out of the new fuel efficiency standards passed by Congress in 2007, the Supreme Court’s decision in Massachusetts v. EPA, which precipitated global warming pollution standards for vehicles under the Clean Air Act, and global warming pollution standards enacted in California and subsequently adopted by 13 other states and the District of Columbia. The agreement provided a mechanism for automakers to build a single national fleet of new vehicles that are in compliance with federal and state requirements under both the Clean Air Act and the Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) program.

In the city where I live in Southern England we also have a bus service every 10 minutes but the problem is that outside the morning and evening one hour peak the busses are going around with maybe just one or two passengers only and often no passengers at all.

You wouldn't need so many charging points and easier to plan the charging of vehicles reducing the peak demands for electricity

Can you point me to any new successful technologies that were brought about because the government banned another one? I don't recall horses being banned to force us into cars. I don't recall landline phones being banned to force us into cell phones. I don't recall pen and paper being banned to force us into word processors.

Take away the taxpayer subsidies and mandates and let the free market decide and let's see. And where is Newsome going to get all the electricity from? OH that's right he will be long gone by then.

They are already struggling to get enough lithium and mining it and processing it and the batteries themselves are environmentally dirty. And you have to generate the electricity to put into them, where is that going to come from. We are already seeing the failure of "renewables" IN CALIFORNIA.

Extracting carbon fuels are much more environmentally dirty, and cover huge land areas. The batteries can be recycled

Why shouldn't baby subsidized? car companies get billions of dollars in subsidies already. We paid over a trillion dollars to the gasoline power automobile industry and bailouts and subsidies,.

I personally think if one type of car gets a subsidy all types of cars should get subsidies it should be either being all or none situation. I feel the same way about energy. If we're not going to subsidized solar and wind and hydro and other green energies we should strip fossil fuel companies of all of their subsidies.

To be honest I think the politicians who are mostly on the payroll of the fossil fuel industry have intentionally rigged the system so that green energy cannot compete without subsidies.

But this isn't only about electrical they are also going to be subsidizing ethanol, biodiesel, and other low admission fuels to replace gasoline powered cars.

Just makes particular sense in California since they have legal cannabis now. Hemp biofuel is just as efficient as gasoline with less than 10% of the carbon emissions

Yes, politicians like to try to bind the hands of future office holders with rope they will not put around their own wrists. It is cowardly "leadership".

Lithium causes both and it is environmental groups opposing the new mining. Gas tanks can be recycled. The ONLY way enough electricity can be produced to meet Newsomes mandate someone else will have to enforce is nuclear and the leftist and environmentalist oppose that clean energy. And then we can crack water and produce hydrogen to fuel our transportation and not have to worry about heavy dirty batteries and having to spend hours recharging them.

During my Sally blackout I refilled my gas cans at a station running off portable generators. Have to wonder how those windmills and solar panels would have survived.
