I will pose my original argument to you smileyface. If a fetus is not a child, I should be able to kill any pregnant womans fetus in the womb without facing a murder charge, or anything other than assault. Ok, I will go along with that so long as if a woman chooses to have an abortion against the man's wishes then HE gets what SHE earns.
True, if you only assault the woman. If you murder her, it's a murder charge. Punishment should be at the most severe end of the range since a pregnant woman is less able to defend herself or escape. To the contrary, laws can be written however lawmakers choose. If they so choose, they can write the laws to provide a more severe penalty in cases where the victim is less able. I would say that it's been working rather well for hundreds of years, but it really has not, in spite of the fact that many men have to pay child support, many manage to escape. The goal of the law is not for the woman to get control of men, it is merely to provide for the child.

Hallo, dear community of PF, I am not sure how the legislation is in the different countries, but in general men are not forced to marry a woman who got pregnant because of them. There are different cases in even more different countries, but here child support will hardly fully equalize the financial problems a single parent has. I don't believe that in the majority of these cases the women got pregnant by intent although there are cases like that.
But that is not how most assault laws are written. The goal of my proposal is not for men to control women, but to compensate the man for the loss to him caused by the decision of the woman.
Child support is not a scam. The male has the responsibility to pay for his stupidity in not protecting himself. I mean if men are so stupid they can't put on a condom they get what they get.
