I’ll stand by my statement. You can stand by your loser of a candidate. Trump is a conservative curse.

If it’s Trump vs. Biden, I will vote for Trump with zero enthusiasm. The last time I did that, was 1992 when Bush lost. Bush broke his word on raising taxes plus Perot split the GOP vote.

I think you're wrong, Biden's poll numbers are lower than whale crap, and there is NO Democrat to replace him. Kamala? Good luck with that.

I have read all of the comments on this thread, and I just wish to add this ...

A wildcard in all of these predictions and decisions as to who you're going to vote for may be the No Labels Party which is gradually gaining interest and succeeding at getting their party on the ballot in some states. This party doesn't want either Trump or Biden, and it is targeting moderate Republicans and Democrats.

Gavin Newsom. He’s handsome. He’s got nice hair. He’s younger. He’s glamorous. He’s related to Nancy Pelosi! He’s the Governor of California. He represents La-La Land!

He’s also been a failure as governor, but that’s beside the point. He’s handsome.

Trump was a marginal candidate who lost to Joe Biden because Biden was not Trump. Trump doubled down on his unpopularity by endlessly grousing about the 2020 election, culminated by January 6.

Trump is ballot box poison. The path for Democrats is clear. Dump Biden; win the election.

Newson is also the lastest in a long line of Democrats who've turned the beautiful state of California into a crap filled third world country.

    You didn't answer the questions.

Do you deny that DeSantis closed down some beaches? He says that he didn't.

Do you deny that DeSantis followed the advice of Fauci, Birx, etc? He now pretends that he didn't.

Frankly I don’t care. When Covid started the message was this thing is highly contagious and if you get it, you are going to die, especially if you are old and fat. Like many, DeSantis took the warning for real, but the scare tactics started to lose credibility, DeSantis pushed back effectively.

Trump, on the other hand, spent trillions and listened to Dr Fauci for too long. He held ineffective press conferences that lasted too long. It got him into trouble and probably cost him the 2020 election. He didn’t know when to shut up. Trump’s ego didn’t allow him to deliver his message and leave before he said something stupid, which he frequently did.

Unless the Democrat nominee is Biden, your man is unelectable. But don’t worry. If Trump wins the Republican nomination, I’ll have to vote for him with zero enthusiasm. He will carry Texas and Florida, but lose the election by more than he did 2020, if Newsom is his opponent.

My very prediction. And I think it will be Gavin Newsom. I find him loathsome but most people know and hate Biden and Trump, but do not know who he is. The later they wait to announce, the less likely there will be time to define him for the public. And a plurality would vote against Trump in favor of an unknown.
Funny, when DeSantis debated his last opponent for Governor re election, the guy blasted him for doing the 15 day shut down. Then blasted him again for not keeping it going!

Translated: "I know that I am wrong but I don't wish to admit it atm".

You said that my comment: "[DeSantis] continues peddling his lies about his COVID response and continues shouting "WOKE WOKE WOKE" instead of addressing the issues that people are actually concerned about." was, quote, "some BS". You say that you live in Florida and know what DeSantis did. I've now asked you a couple of simple questions regarding what DeSantis did and you refuse to answer them, now saying "Frankly I don't care", because you know full well that I am correct about this but don't wish to admit it. I'll ask the questions again:

Do you deny that [DeSantis] closed down some beaches? He says that he didn't.

Do you deny that [DeSantis] followed the advice of Fauci, Birx, etc? He now pretends that he didn't.

DeSantis should be honest about his COVID policies instead of attempting to rewrite history about them. This is why he's going to get EVISCERATED every single time he comes across anyone willing to call him out on his COVID policy lies... such as Gavin Newsom in a couple of months...

Right, and that's my entire point. Damn near everyone in government initially listened to "the experts" (Fauci, Birx, etc.) and bought into the COVID hysteria, promoting shutdowns, masks, and jabs. That includes Donald Trump. That includes Ron DeSantis.

This is where you're going to stretch the truth and get yourself into the same trouble that DeSaster is getting himself into re: his false claims. See below.

This is incorrect. Trump didn't spend anything. CONgress did. Trump simply executed what CONgress legislated. Too few people understand how their own government works.

Oh really? THIS is the "same trouble as DeSaster" moment that I referenced above. A simple question, and please don't respond with "Frankly I don't care" as you did the last time that you didn't wish to admit that you were wrong:

Who was the first person to publicly criticize Dr Fauci (and take A LOT of heat for it)? (Hint: It was NOT Ron DeSantis)

Misdirected criticism. The "COVID task force" was being managed by Mike 'Thirty' Pence.

Nope. That would be election fraud that did that.

Obviously you don't like Trump's personality. I get it.

We can rehash this again if you really want to (Trump is actually the ONLY R candidate who is electable)... but it involves two questions that you didn't answer the last time that I asked them:

    1) The "only Trump" vote is leaps and bounds larger than the "never Trump" vote, to the rather conservative tune of at least 10 million votes. Where is [insert non-Trump R candidate here] going to get that many additional votes from?

    2) Which 'Rust Belt' state is [insert non-Trump R candidate here] going to win and how is [insert non-Trump R candidate here] going to go about winning that state?

You don't HAVE to, but you're going to because you think that he's still at least a bit better than the Democrat alternative.

I'll repeat. I don't care. DeSantis is not my first choice in the primaries. I'll tell you that Trump is at the bottom of my list followed by Mike Pence and Asa Hutchinson. Those two are old hack politicians who need to retire.

I would suggest you try to avoid pissing off those who don't want Trump in the primaries. You will need us to win the general election. That's one of the reasons why Trump is fool. He thinks that insulting potential allies when he doesn't have to makes him look cleaver. It doesn't. It makes him look petty and foolish, which is one of his greatest faults.

If Trump has everything sewn up, why the hell are you worrying about me? I'm not going change any minds, at least no among the Trump cult.

Aka you don't wish to admit that you are wrong about these things. Got it. I'm okay with moving on from it.

You're making some incorrect claims, and I am correcting them. That's all I'm doing. You can come to your own conclusions as to who you wish to support, but if there's incorrect information being spread around and I see it, then I'm going to correct it.

Like I posted, try to avoid pissing of the people you will need in November 2024.

In the mean Matt Gates just ousted McCarthy. Matt Gates = AOC. If I had any power, I would primary Gates into political oblivion.

If the GOP calls me for a contribution, they can go pound salt. This country is finished. I need to save my money.

The sweet part of this discussion is GOP fighting among themselves even in this thread just like in Congress. We DEMS just sit and watch.

Nothing, absolutely nothing to contribute. You two are doing great!

In the UK, irrespective of the party leader, I always vote conservative. Candidates will claim X,y, and z but true to form after every win, they U-turn on most.

I've never voted based on a person's character.

I'm not so sure Joe and Mary Six Pack hate Trump as much as the media and those who listen to them do.

If Biden can't turn the economy around... the attention to this debt ceiling...the debt in general and the independent voters are going to be off the Biden train with ever aid package he sends to Ukraine.

So you split the electoral votes and it goes to the house.
What you are voting on is who is going to take bread from whose mouth when interest on the growing debt sucks too much capital out of the economy.
The financial weenies are sounding the alarm.
Trump had and has a plan. I have heard nothing from the democrats or the No Labels Party.

    From the No Labels agenda:

"Washington must stop spending so much more than it takes
in. From now on, the annual budget should be reasonable
and responsible, which means our national debt needs to stop
    growing faster than our economy."

    https://www.commonsensemajority.org/_files/ugd/9f0726_ddf18ab178e0489d8d816fd09e8607fe.pdf

I wonder what the House would do if No Labels won by a convincing majority, but the decision was to be made by a House vote.
