That only shows that you don't know anything about economics. I know a great deal about economics, having read more than a dozen books and many many articles on the topic.

The Founders were in a completely different time. We have to stop pretending like this is the 1800's. Native Americans were here before the White European settlers, so we have already seen the effect of one majority turn into a minority. Hispanics and African Americans will one day be the majority of this country, not the minority, as history will repeat itself, so we might as well come to terms with that reality.

For starters, I ask you look at the Democratic side and Republican side of Washington and tell me which side is more diverse, looks more like America.

Something is more telling about your reaction to my OP that you are afraid of whites becoming the minority than accepting the reality that they will become the minority, as history shows us what happened with Native Americans. No, whites are not a superior race in America or elsewhere. That's what led to the massacre in New Zealand.

Government is certainly a source of rent seeking, as shown by the military industrial complex. However, to suggest that its specific to government merely shows an innocence of basic economics.

    That isn't what happened.

The right made it easy for the Wall Street Casino to cash out the US economy. It made irresponsible lending extremely profitable, and encouraged ever greater income inequality and made sure that Wall Street was well taken care of.

I was going to say that some of the things in the OP were not helpful or delivered in the sort of tone that would encourage discussion.

There is little doubt that Beto, Elizabeth Warren and the rest are focusing on the future, while Trump and his angry retired resentful (and almost exclusively white) crowd not only view the world in the past tense, they yearn to turn the clock back.,

I'm guessing you didn't read the article. "Profit seeking" is not "rent seeking". Your belief that it is means you have a fundamentally warped idea of economics.

Venezuela, the bright future from the democratic party. Beto just announced he is for abortion up until birth and Warren is pushing black reparations. The crazies are on stage front and center.

The GOP passed the Gramm Leach Bliely Act and the Commodoties Futures Modernization Act. One destroyed the barrier between investment and commercial banks that has stood since the Glass Steagal Act was passed in 1935. The other made sure that financial instruments like derivatives would not be regulated. Those two moves, plus the Bush Administration's lowering of reserve requirements, and radically increasing the size of debt the government would insure opened the casino. The speculative boom it set off made people think they were doing better than they were and set off a wave of borrowing. Borrowing that would later lead to the worst finacial collapse sinve 1929.....but not until after Wall Street has cashed its bonus checks.

The Bill signed by Clinton? Glass Steagal had nothing to do with the 2009 crash...in fact the bill you mentioned likely helped keep the recession from getting worse. https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-...linton-glass-steagall-had-nothing-do-financi/

Again, you only show your innocence of basic economics. I didn't invent the concept, nor is it anything specific to heterodox schools like Marxism. Indeed, neoclassical economics refers to it alot. It has to, mind you, because of the regularity of market failure.

Yes it has been noted how there has been an increase in illegal brown people invading our nation. What are they looking for? Freebies that's what. As I drive around the country I see more dilapidated buildings being shuttered in black and brown neighborhoods, more garbage on the streets, more open alcoholics and drug addicts openly using on the streets. When you go into an emergency room at the hospitals the blacks and browns outweigh the numbers of whites. If you get admitted to the hospital it is a good chance the bedpan cleaners are from South America, Filipino or black. I guess the mobility of some of the poor has allowed them to move into white neighborhoods or downtown into established tent cities. The browns have taken over rural farm areas and now dominate the picking of produce. It has hurt blacks in my state so bad that our First Lady has put on a display of cotton and given blacks who visit a cotton ball so they can not forget the experience. Rumor is our governor and attorney general could show up at anytime and put on a skit in blackface. Things are so good for minorities in the USA that being a person of color, will more than likely, be able to get you qualitied for WIC, Medicaid, Head Start, subsidized housing, food stamps, free legal aid, free school supplies, a diploma even if you can't pass any classes, subsidized or free college, ahead of the line at holidays for free hand outs from merchants and donations of cloths, toys, and food from food banks.
Now you have Democrats who want reparations for blacks. Hell, I thought that was what all that stuff I just mentioned was. Yep, that's the America you want for the brown's and blacks and now everyone else. No thanks. Some of us still have pride and are able to do for ourselves. White trash still carry our garbage and trash out and put it in the cans so some of you can still eat.

Turn the clock back? AOC wants to get rid of planes, trains and automobiles and have us go back to riding horses.

Peddling the intentionally misleading right wing out of context rewrite of American history was disgusting when I first heard Lush Limpballs do it twenty years ago, and it hasn't improved since.

You do understand that you are talking to people who couldn't find New Zealand on a map. So, when they tell you what they know about the world, it doesn't take very long, once you've filtered out the ethnic stereotypes.

The open bigotry that is now rampant on this forum is impossible to miss, and is frequently accompanied by thin denials and fake outrage (you must be a racist because you saw my racism, and white people are victims!).

The only thing that I can say is that I have looked at some other forums like this one, and they're even worse when it comes to the flagrant and open bigotry and deliberate no nothingness.

Theres two Americas. Rural and Urban. They are increasingly politically incompatible.

Urban America has recently gained a population advantage over rural America, and thus it believes a political advantage. The problem is that rural America still lives in a republic where the Mob of democracy doesnt actually rule- the Constitution does.

If 'modernizing' means killing off Christianity, trucks and guns (minorities are welcome, its the urban culture that isn't) then rural America will never be 'modern'. If it comes down to it, we'll have the United Coastal Regions of America and the United 'Flyover Country' of America. Rural America will never submit to having its laws dictated by a faraway, culturally disconnected urban majority because we're not a democracy, we're a republic.

And we all know the cities can't force the issue on the countryside. Its too big of an area with too many 'bitter clingers'. Not only do we provide most of the food, but we provide most of the military personel as well. The sooner you lot forget about ever pacifying rural America (the vast geographical bulk of the nation), the easier things will be for all of us.

You can 'modernize' urbania all you want, with the concept of 'sanctuary cities' the precedent has been set for all sorts of wierd legal regions. But the culture of rugged individualism will continue in most of the nation and there is literally nothing you can do about it. ....except complain, I suppose.
