LOL, basketball, really? Nothing more obvious than someone who points the finger of racism at others to cover up his own bigotry. I'm surprised you didn't say something about watermelons.

Everyone should be treated as equal.

But that does not mean that different races/ethnicities should have to live together. Racial integration creates several problems. There are significant physical and behavioral differences between different races, enough more so than the variation between different people within the same race to justify them living separately apart.

People are human. Yet it is a fact that people are different in significant and nuanced ways. To think that one group of people is somehow "better" (at being 'human') than others, is sheer folly.

Within groups of individuals (regardless of cultural affiliations or ethnicity), there are certain physical and social characteristics; those DO NOT define or enhance the actual WORTH of any particular group or individual; but those things DO (to some degree) inform our identity as an individual.

HUMAN BEINGS are all generally EQUAL. Whether or not people of one group are viewed as "EQUALS" by another group, depends upon many factors and those are 'typically' controversial or sensitive things to discuss in virtually any context.

Still, in a primarily academic setting... those things which define us all (as individuals) can be discussed in a less-than-contentious manner. In a forum such as this, where various motives and goals for discussing things (at all) are often myriad... the TOPIC of "equality" (whether about Ford/Chevy, Conservative/Liberal, Pepsi/Coke and certainly Black/White) can be and most often does become CONTENTIOUS.

Personally, I admire those who can share what they think/believe about ethnicity or ethnic diversity, and not assail/dehumanize other individuals or groups when they do. In this forum, that kind of participant has been RARE indeed.

Still, this environment has helped me to better handle people I meet face-to-face... despite the most likely reality that people we encounter in-person... tend to 'filter' far-more of what they are really thinking, than they do here.

The answer to the question in the OP, could easily be 'yes' or 'no'; it is all very dependent upon perspective and all that is seriously considered when attempting to find an answer.

Do you believe in evolution? Do you believe in statistics? Should all people be treated equally? Yes. Are they? No. And it is not the so-called "right-wingers" who prioritize favoring one race over the other.

    You are very correct, Smartmouthwoman.

Are you aware the most segregated day of the week is Sunday?

This is the day black people choose to go to black churches and not white churches.

How is this for blatant racism!

Please read the following article about Barack and Michelle Obama and then you tell me.

"To his credit, Obama concedes that he "may have benefited from the Law Review's affirmative action policy." This did not strike him as unusual as he "undoubtedly benefited from affirmative action programs during my academic career."

Equal is a funny word when used in the context of a poll with only two choices, isn't it?

And so the left continues to use blacks as pawns to fit their agenda. Nothing like a poll like this one to remind blacks they're different from whites, huh? Unfortunately, they still won't recognize this obvious attempt to keep 'em in their place.

Of course they're not equal. From blacks having IQ's similar to that of a monkey, to blacks thinking that libs and government will give them everything they need in life without lifting a finger to earn it, I would say they'll remain on the bottom of the food chain through eternity.

That is genius. Pure genius. Blacks have an IQ similar to that of a monkey. Not even an ape, but a monkey.

I must say that as of late the prevalence of attitudes such as your has lead me to believe that their are plenty on the forum with IQ's similar to that of a monkey. Not an ape, but a monkey.

Thank you. I think I have the confidence interval for it high enough to say it is a probability.

How do you know the colours of all the churches in the US? Some could be brownstones.

White people and Black people living in the USA are not equal. Statistically, since the white population is about 70% of the population, it follows that is a much larger number of stupid white people than there are stupid black people.

To match the number of stupid white people, the ENTIRE population of black people would have to become stupid, and then would have to find another 12 million stupid black people to immigrate to the US, just to be able to say: YES, we too,in the Black community, are proud to say that we have just as many stupid black people as there are stupid white people living in this great country.

Please take this with respect... because it is intended that way. You are making an impossible comparison here. You cannot compare two groups and ask if they are equal.

Each group consists of individuals, and only individuals can be compared. Every black is NOT the same as every other black. Nor is every white person the same as every other white person. To even suggest such a thing is a erroneous concept to begin with.

A more fair question to ask might be... do any two random people have the same potential? And the answer is NO!!! They do not. The color that their skin happens to be plays no part in their intelligence, work ethic, religious views, political beliefs, physical abilities, or scholastic aptitude. Are you implying that it does?

If you are really asking the question are blacks and whites equal, then let me ask you, does the color of your skin effect the way you think? Are their "black thoughts" for example? Thoughts that a white man is completely unable to have, because his mind cannot grasp the concept, because he is white? Is there something in the DNA of whites (other than skin pigment obviously), that shows a difference in their minds, as opposed to others? Could you CAT scan the brains of 100 random blacks, and 100 random whites, give those pictures to ANYONE and have them tell you which was which?

Untill we stop looking at people as groups, and look at them as individuals, things will never improve in the US.

No two people are equal, so no two races of people are equal.

Why, I must ask? Why ask if whites and blacks are equal? Why not ask if people are of different character? Wouldn't that make more sense?
    What does make people tick?
Is it their upbringing, the parenting, or is it the color of skin?
Go deeper, and don't buy into another discussion on racism.

    Okay. Then Yes.

I don't think the definition of equal is simple.

Now this... this isn't about definition. This is just dodgy.

Based on your reply, races must logically be equal.
    1. Individuals are not equal (irrelevant unless individuals of a race are determinalistically better than the other)
    2. Race is not important. Other factors are (suggesting that race does not make onee better or worse as an individual).

But then there's this notion of a race "choosing to take on" cultural things...
This sort of throws away the individualist idea for a collectivist one.
If a race chooses its culture rather than individuals, and a culture makes one better or worse, then it follows that a race makes one better or worse.

    So which is it?
Do individuals choose their culture? Or do races?
(Personally my answer to that is neither and I don't find it all that relevant, but it seems to be the barrier you have to making a decision).

I can rough up a white person much easier than I can with a black person.

    So no. Not really.
