By your line of thinking, laws against murder are government interfering in people's lives and forcing other people's beliefs on someone else. When somebody whacks you, we should make sure that the murderer isn't interfered with and doesn't have the values of others imposed on him. He has a right to do whatever he wants with his body and he decided to use it by killing you. Nothing wrong with that.

Besides, republicans don't care about the abortion topic at all. It's an issue that was brought up when Reagan was courting votes from evangelicals so he aligned himself with them. Now that the republican party has been hijacked by extremists they're still beating this dead horse to unify their base. republicans could have done something about it many times but they haven't.
