The Mexican narco-terrorists win another round against the incompetent, incapable, and corrupt Mexican authorities. Not only did the narco - terrorists defeat police forces in battle and force them to hand over Chapo's Son, they also made sure that the guy who captured him was executed in a ridiculously excessive way. The Mexican government cannot fix this problem, but we're just a phone call away.

I would bet there is a pretty good chance that nobody will be willing to arrest him again.

    155 times seems excessive.

These drug cartels seem to have some bad hombres within them.

The NarcoGuerra in Mexico cannot be won by conventional means. Ever heard of "plata o plumo"? Translates "silver or lead". The cartels can offer more money than you could turn down, and if you did turn it down, not only will they kill you, but they will rape, torture and murder your entire family in front of your eyes before they murder you. I stopped carrying in Mexico (which was highly illegal) because even if I won a gun battle with a cartel thug, the cartel would do exactly what I noted above, and don't think for a moment you would be safe from them here in the USA. I decided the only prudent thing to do is to let them kill me hoping they'd leave my family alone. Their is noone you could trust for long in Mexican government or law enforcement because of what I stated above, even "good" cops would be given a choice none of us would ever want to have to make... and "good" cops do no last long in that system.
The only thing I could figure is keep the cartel busters in forts, along with their families , and pay them extremely well... cover their backs.. and even at that they'd be infiltrated from time to time.

Wow. Cool story. You had a chance of being in a "gun battle" with a Mexican drug cartel?

You mean the operation that was part of Project Gunrunner that started in 2006? You sure do wonder a lot for someone who is on the internet and has access to information. Besides, why wonder? It's obvious that WAY more guns have been smuggled into Mexico outside of ATF operations thanks to the ability to legally and easily buy them in the US.

I mean, why wonder when you have google...???

The guns from Project Gunner Runner had tracking devices in them, Obama and holder had those removed.
Those are select fire weapons (a machine gun) they have and use in Mexico, can't buy them at the gun store here I the USA and must have a license to won anyway. Sure , they get some guns and ammo from the USA, but most of their weapons of war come in through their southern borders where it is much easier to smuggle in and there is an availability of those weapons too. If I really wanted a machine gun and grenade launchers and rocket launchers, I'd find them much more readily available just across Mexico's southern border.

    Hang loose.

Obama had tracking devices removed from guns? That sounds insane. I googled the **** out of that, and could not find it. Have you a link to affirm such a silly sounding charge?

First of all, no, Obama didn't have them removed. He didn't provide any such input on the operation per any documents or testimony. Holder may have as this was a DOJ operation. But there was no link established to Obama issuing or even being aware of operational details of a long running ATF program anymore than W Bush would have been aware of those lower level details. So sorry on that one. Also, the RF tracking chips were removed largely because they failed, and if you are a member of the cartel getting guns smuggled in, you look for stuff like that and develop counter measures. So it wasn't because Obama and Holder are evil and wanted more people to die.

As for more guns coming from the south, that may or may not be true. Do you have any data to support it? Because I suspect given how easy it is to purchase guns in the US and how easy it is to cross the border south, that many many assault rifles are smuggled back into Mexico. Logic indicates it's a pretty valid conclusion and as someone whose crossed the boarder a handful of times, I can tell you without any concern that it's MUCH MUCH easier to cross into Mexico than to cross back at crossings near El Paso in Texas and New Mexico.

This was a risky operation launched under a previous administration and continued by the DOJ into the Obama administration that likely made poor decisions in desperate attempts to succeed in solving a problem that unfortunately can't be solved by guns in any form. I think people should have been held accountable, possibly Holder, and this is the failure on Obama's part. But I don't think Bush or Obama bear accountability for these flaws.

Yes.. the Obama Admin was and is evil, their intent was to generate an outcry here to get gun sales banned and the 2nd Admin repealed.

155 times is excessive as the LA police only fired 120 shots at Winston Hayes back in 2004. He was unarmed but the police managed to hit him 9 times, his SUV 66 times, nearby residences 11 times, police cars 11 times and one of the police officers once.

"How do you get Capone? When he sends one of yours to the hospital, you send two of his to the morgue. That's how you get Capone"

Once in a while Hollywood gets something right.

VERY misleading if not an outright lie.

NOTHING was "continued." The Bush program was shut down when it was realized that there was no sure way to track 100% of the weapons a year and a half before the corrupt obozo / holder decided to sell weapons without a method of tracking, and used Executive Privilege to thwart a congressional investigation.

Please show where this is true. It's not in anything I've read thus far that "Bush's operation was shut down due to lack of tracking." Your follow on calling Obama "Obozo" leads me to believe your emotions are disconnecting your brain from your typing fingers.

Project Gunrunner encompassed several gun walking operations with various tactics employed. Those operations included Fast and the Furious as well as others that occurred during Bush's time in the White House. The project was never cancelled and was refunded in 2009 as part of the stimulus bill that including funding for various law enforcement agencies. That is, the bill provided ATF funding and they put it into Project Gunrunner's budget.

Not sure why you think you know this but a link to a real source never hurts!

On tax evasion. That's actually how we got Capone. And Elliot Ness much less the Sean Connery character hardly existed as what you saw in the film. So no, Hollywood didn't get it "right" from a historical or reality standpoint, but they did make an entertaining movie that's for sure.

No. This makes no sense to anyone but maybe to someone who has ODS...you know, Obama Derangement Syndrome...???

Anyway, if they wanted to get gun sales banned and the 2nd amendment repealed, it would be really dumb to create a program that DOCUMENTS letting guns walk across the boarder into the hands of cartels. It would be EVEN DUMBER to then keep track of where and when those guns were used in crimes. Especially AFTER you document that you in fact helped/made the purchases so you could put a tracker in the guns. So no, you're very flawed conclusion is a result of your hatred. If you want to repeal the 2nd amendment, the ONLY option is to go through a difficult constitutional process that is likely to fail. So I highly doubt anyone had the notion of repealing the 2nd amendment via this scheme and I know you have nothing to prove it other your own conspiracy theories and beliefs which are pointless.

The real explanation is the ATF was at the time looking to solve a problem they cannot solve, that is, cartels engaging in violence in Mexico and the US near the boarder. The reason Project Gunrunner would never work is because it didn't address the real problem, that is the billions of dollars American want to spend on illegal drugs every year. Until you address that problem, someone will find a way to supply that demand. Read Adam Smith if you doubt the force of the free market because that's what you're fighting here.

And that would do what exactly? Do you think they freed El Capo's kid because they love the man? No. They did it out of fear. Kill El Chapo and the next guy they fear will take over. And then the next. Because billions of dollars isn't something criminals pass up even if the threat of death exists.
