I could have sworn that this was your OP:

How was your concern for people replaced by a concern for the almighty Federal Government without any concern for the people?

Why would I pressure the people who are actually trying to negotiate as opposed to those who are trying to take expensive vacations on the tax payers dime to avoid negotiating? Your post rather than demonstrating so-called bankruptcy of the right has in essence rather shown the empty hypocrisy of the left.

OK, and are you going to be willing to pay more in taxes for the hundreds, if not thousands of new Border Patrol agents it will take to fully man and patrol the wall?

Cause if you are not, that money is going to be taken from other national security programs....like the TSA, which leaves air travel open to terrorism, or the various agencies battling human trafficking (who bring in a good chunk of illegal immigrants)

Declare national emergency.Finish the wall. Democrats don"t give a brown matter about Americans. All their lidership care for is themselves. No policies whatsoever.Just meaningless propaganda and trying to score cheap political points.Obstructionists driven by their pathological hatred for DJT.

Ummm. Walls are built to keep potential invaders on the Mexico side of the border and to at least slow down the invasion. Invaders who make it to US soil are automatically entitled to due process, costing taxpayers billions of dollars annually.

There is border patrol today. There will be border patrol tomorrow, probably in smaller numbers given that a barrier offers more opportunity for detection technology.

I'm on the Border, and our church has a fund to help Feds who need it .. tho' not many need our help, there seems to be interest free govt loans and, where possible, deferment of their payments. We already have a big beautiful barrier... God made it. and on the Mexican side.. they already made one too, huge concrete wall with razor wire on top.

Pelosi and Schumer could end this today. Would you rather they remain obstinate and continue to have "government workers who are now in some cases facing foreclosure, dealing with hardships they've never known before, running out of savings, having cars repossessed, and facing bankruptcy?"

I'm curious. Would you rather this shut down to continue rather than 5 billion to the wall?

It won't take more people a wall is a force multiplier. The same electronics you claim will work without a wall will work even better with one.

It is 5 bill in an area where there is a lot of incursions. We would need less teachers if one out of every eight kids in cal was a illegal or a child of an illegal.

This is the dems paying back the repubs for 8 years of obstruction with Obama and the repubs blocking Obama's supreme court nominee. That is all it is. If you think American's can;t see what is going on you are mistaken. The guy was elected president and millions voted ant-illegals immigration. American's want a secure border, and this helps.

If the dems propose a compromise that gets illegals returned to thier home countries, then they can put the ball in his court

It could be spent on countless things that would, in fact, help to make America Great Again. But, as you say, it won't be the fulfillment of a foolish and misleading campaign promise. A great president would use money to do great things...

What do you think would happen if your local police and state police were all laid off for a month or two? Would you buy more guns and keep watch from your choice location? Or what?

It's all one problem, silly person. The workers need to be paid but we also need government services or people will still be harmed. Some people rely Social Security to survive. Those checks wouldn't go out. Airlines rely on the TSA and air traffic controllers to fly safely, and those services would all be missing. HHS would be closed and we have a break-out of measles in the state of Washington today, not to mention countless other health issues that need on-going work. And much, much more. You haven't gotten yourself informed as to the seriousness of this. Try starting with this: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...ainful-consequences-of-a-government-shutdown/

Who's "trying to actually negotiate"? Trump is being a bully. McConnell is Trump's enabler and puppet.

That $5 billion is pure bullshit. Do you really think that is close to what it would actually cost?? It would cost TWENTY TIMES THAT. Get a clue.

Of course the $5 billion is bullshit. It's symbolic and means nothing to actual border security. The smart thing would be for the dems to give in to that minor cost, and let the workers go back to a normal life. Trump has said that this is just a section of the wall that needs to be built. IMHO, both Trump and the dems are responsible for the continuation of the shutdown. He asked for $5 billion symbolically for the wall while asking for over $6 billion in other border security measures (like more border patrol, etc.). $5 billion is barely spare change in the federal budget.

With any normal person that might be a reasonable path to take. But with Trump's psychology it would teach him that taking workers and government services hostage for his completely unrelated wall works, and when the $5 billion runs out, he would most likely shut down the government again to get more if there were any resistance to the additions. Meanwhile, it is turning more and more people against him and building a case for a badly needed impeachment to stop all such damage that he has done and will continue to do.

i think the elites themselves, including all the democrat bank owners, should show compassion and give a break to these unpaid individuals, knowing full well why they cant pay...

perhaps pelosi and company should make a public appeal to these companies & landlords, to ease up on foreclosure/repo's... nah, she wont because it'd effect her 'bottom line'...

anywho, my loans had the option to defer payments to the end of the loan in the event of such a situation...
no one else's fault but theirs if they dont have such a clause with their loans...

But republican bank owners can just go on as usual? Your thinking is rather peculiar.

The job of "Pelosi and company" is to run government but you want them to interfere in the running of particular businesses? Yet you oppose regulations on businesses? Your thinking is rather peculiar.

So the loan agreements that are designed by businesses are the fault of the borrowers? Your thinking is rather peculiar.
