This your first year watching college football? Ohio State has been to, and won, more BCS games than any other team in college football. Last year was the first year they didn't win the Big Ten title since 2004. Comparing Penn State to Ohio State over the last 20 years is a joke.

I forgot Ohio State, but that's my point, just look at the Conference. it's weak. no wonder they dominate every single year. It's like Penn State and Ohio State. that's it. every year. the rest of that division sucks.

What are you basing this on? Michigan has won twice as many Big Ten titles in the past 20 years when compared to Penn State (that's including the ones vacated by Penn St). They won a National Title more recently that Penn State. Wisconsin has won more Big Ten titles than Penn State in the past 20 years. Lets get real here. Penn State is hovering around 4th or 5th best in the Big Ten in the past 20 years, Behind OSU, Michigan, and Wisconsin at least

tbh, Winsconsin was all hype the past couple years. Ron Dayne made that possible. remember him?..lol..

and Michigan is super-hype. and I think you agree with me on that one.

and don't get me started on the BCS as a whole with the bias towards "money teams" and no playoff system.

Michigan in my opinion is one of those money teams. huge alumni dumpinig into the program and makes it "appear" to be a big dog, but the play on the field is another story. Denard Robinson(sp?) is the best player on the team...really?....lol

Christ. Michigan is the winningest program in college football. Yeah, this year they were over ranked going into the season, but within the next two years under Hoke they will be a 10-11 win team every season. Their past two recruiting classes were unbelievable.

Ron Dayne left Wisconsin 13 years ago, what that has to do with anything is beyond me. I don't think Dayne was responsible for the best O line in college football 2 years ago along with their past few Big Ten titles.

And Robinson is the best QB on Michigans roster, not the best player. He probably won't even be drafted after he graduates.

    Ok, I'm listening. and?

that's My point. How can the QB be the best guy on the team 2-3 years in a row?

And Michigan has had a headlock on recruiting talent for years(politics imo) and that's why they are the winnigest, but ask yourself, why don't they put the BEST players in the NFL every year if they are sooo good?

that's my point. the competition in the region is weak. so schools like Ohio State and Michigan can always dominate because the highschool kids in that area already make there minds up where they wanna go by 7th grade..lol..and it's alway one of the two.

Ok, I give you Winsconsin's O-line but let's see how many from that O-line start in the NFL. I bet only the OT gets a job for any length of time. I forget who the RB's were but that goes to show that they won't be sl=plashes in the NFL..

but oK, I'll add the Big 10 to the list. but you and I both know a National Champion contender is not coming from the Big 10 no time soon. think SEC and Big 12 tbh.

Your football knowledge is lacking, sir. You don't remember Montee Ball? Over 1900 yards rushing, 33 TDs last year? A Heisman finalist? Due to that offensive line that had 3 first round picks along with a early second round pick.

Michigan does put top players in the NFL every year, except under RR of course. Tom Brady? Charles Woodson? Ty Law? Braylon Edwards? These names ringing a bell? I could list dozens more off the top of my head. Saying Michigan and Ohio are weak in football is beyond stupid. Ohio is the 4th most heavily recruited state behind Cali, Florida, and Texas.

OK, Savannah St., you can do! Shock the world & beat the Seminoles! Pay no attention to that betting line of seventy & a half points!

yada yad and Tyrone Wheatley, etc the list goes on I get that.....sure, but the Only one you named that came out blazing was Charles Woodson. and he came to the Raiders...lol...and I loved it. bt the rest were back ups in the NFL. only when Bledsoe got hurt did Tom Brady see the field. if that hadn't happen where would Tom Brady be? exactly. a back up somewhere else. that's my point. Michigan players are for the most part
over-hyped because of the School mystique and money behind it.

But when you get down to the numbers and which players will mand it on the next level, the Pac 10 is looked at AFTER the SEC and Big 12. mainly because of the talent level and size. can't beat the South, period.

Now let's look at THIS year. how many wins do you see Michigan and Ohio State having?

I say 7 wins for Michigan and the Care Care Bowl...lol. and 7 for Ohio State and the Coton Bowl.

I'm picking Alabama vs. USC all day in the BCS title. SEC vs. Pac 10

ps. my Raiders drafter Ohio State's Terrell Pryor 2 years ago and he has yet to see the field and start a game. coincidence? I don't think so. the guy can't grasp the playbook.

Am I the only one who found it humorous reading posts about which Big 10 team sucks the least?

I wouldn't be laughing too hard. You're rooting on schools from the SEC whos student body can hardly read. Hell would freeze over before I let a doctor educated in Alabama work on me. Didn't Forrest Gump excel at Alabama?

Word to the wise: Don't make a drinking game of taking a shot every time Air Force runs a triple option.

Do you not know who's in the Big Ten? This is the second time now you've indicated you don't know the members of the BIG 10.

Anywho, how about them Razorbacks? LOL. Physically manhandled on the line and beat down by a team most people have never heard of.

A Saturday to forget in Big Ten
    By Adam Rittenberg
    ESPN.com

The Big Ten didn't wait until New Year's Day to endure its national flogging. The league assumed the position in Week 2.

If Jan. 1, 2011, was the worst on-field date in league history -- Big Ten teams went 0-5 in bowls, including a Wisconsin loss to TCU in the Rose Bowl -- Saturday came pretty close to the worst regular-season date on record.

It began with Penn State missing field goals in Virginia and ended with a short-handed Illinois team getting toasted in the desert. In between, the reigning Big Ten champion, Wisconsin, came less than two minutes away from being shut out by a seemingly benign Oregon State squad. A Bo Pelini-coached Nebraska squad couldn't stop UCLA, while Iowa couldn't score a touchdown on its home field against Iowa State.

After an unimpressive but not completely disastrous Week 1 performance -- the Big Ten went 10-2 and split its showcase games against Alabama and Boise State -- it wasn't front and center on the national radar entering Saturday. But an unusual slate of contests -- seven true road games, including three in Pac-12 territory, where the league has struggled mightily the past two decades -- created the potential for extremes. As has been the case all too often in recent seasons, the Big Ten ended up with an extreme embarrassment, going 6-6.

    [+] Enlarge
    Richard Mackson/US Presswire
Bo Pelini's Cornhuskers struggled to stop UCLA's offense in a 36-30 loss at the Rose Bowl.

The league went 1-6 against teams from major conferences plus Notre Dame, as Northwestern's come-from-behind win against SEC member Vanderbilt marked the lone bright spot. The next most "impressive" wins came against the likes of UCF (Ohio State) and Air Force (Michigan).

"I'm sorry to hear that for our brothers in the league," Northwestern coach Pat Fitzgerald said. "We're focused on what we need to do. We're not a good enough football team right now to, I guess, put the league on our shoulders or anything like that."

Michigan State might be, and the Spartans are clearly carrying the tattered flag of the Big Ten after the first two weeks. But Michigan State is the only Big Ten squad worthy of sniffing the nation's top 10.

Saturday's most stunning and stinging performance came from Wisconsin, which has represented the Big Ten in the past two Rose Bowls. A Badgers team that set offensive records the past two seasons failed to score for 58:29 against an Oregon State team it shut out 35-0 a season earlier. Wisconsin had just 79 total yards entering the fourth quarter, and star running back Montee Ball, a Heisman Trophy finalist in 2011, was a nonfactor.

"I'm not in this profession to lose football games," Badgers coach Bret Bielema said. "Any loss absolutely disturbs me to no end."

    Bielema had company Saturday.

Kirk Ferentz has now watched Iowa's offense, under the direction of new coordinator Greg Davis, score a grand total of one touchdown in the first two games. Pelini, considered a virtuoso of defense, saw Nebraska surrender 36 points (24 in the first half) and 653 yards to the Bruins.

"I'm embarrassed by how we played today," Pelini said. "We didn't play well in any phase of the game. We were inconsistent, our fundamentals were lousy, and that leads to bad things happening."

Bad things happened around the Big Ten on Saturday, and with few remaining opportunities against major-conference foes, the league must wait until bowl season to begin repairing its dreadful national rep. More specifically, the Big Ten's chance for redemption arrives New Year's Day.

    Yikes.

I take it you're not find of math? If northwestern, OSU, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, and Indiana win, is that more, less or equal to one win? It's like I'm having a discussion with someone who managed to score some computer time at his group home.

a deceiving 10-2 which could've easily been 0-10 given all the sloppy play by ALL the teams in the Big 10. they barely won their games.

I mean c'mon, Winsconsin struggling againg Oregon State?,...hahaha

Folks don't care about the military academies or schools which require student athletes to be held accountable for academics.

I dunno, sec. I wouldn't bet against the SEC. I wouldn't be surprised to see 'Bama repeat.

That being said, I'll be rooting for Virginia Tech, but they won't be competing for the national title. They'll be lucky to get past Florida State in the ACC...

    sec,

I always wondered what your handle was for; for some strange reason, I thought it might be something to do with the Securities and Exchange Commission ...lol!

Anyway, the only sports teams I really care about are Chicago's pro teams, and the Chicago Bears are by far my favorite out of those, so college football is just an amusement for me, not really a "fan" of it, though I do enjoy watching the games sometimes, especially at the bar. If I had to pick a "favorite" college team I suppose it would be the Gators (for family reasons) or Notre Dame (for many reasons - cultural, religious, communal, geographical, historical, etc.). Being from Illinois, I don't have much college sports to root for anyway. It's fine, though. I do just fine with DA BEARS!!!
