People do realize that we have had at least three "shutdowns" in the last 15 years and literally nothing happened don't they? The non-essentials even got back pay in 2013 and there is already a bill for that this time around. If you are furloughed then you are getting extra paid vacation time so no one can feel sorry for them at all.

Back, front, side,in the palms of his small hands... it's all good... Never has a presidential stabbing felt so good, and yet been so the right thing to do... Time to reap what he sowed....

Didn't think a lot of Chuck Schumer before the past couple of weeks, but he has some cojones.... Another minor winner is Sen Graham.... As MSNBC said clearly last night, he seems to be the only adult in the room with any current collection of R's.... May have to give him another listen....

The last time this happened I laid the blame at the feet of the Republicans who abused the process to try and hold the Govt for ransom.

I do the same for the Dems now. Using the threat (and now the reality) of shutting the entire Govt down to get policy passed is an abuse of the system.

That said, the Rs need to take a long hard look at the fact that they cant even keep their rank and file in lockstep over such a critical bill.

democrats of course did not cause a shut down, because they can't. Republicans have majorities in the house, senate and have the white house.

    Fair point.

This caught me eye though, and it makes a lot of sense:
Many Democrats and some Republicans announced they would vote against a short-term deal, criticizing the continued use of stopgap bills rather than funding the government through more long-term, stable mechanisms.

That is a point worth making, and if my reps want to vote against this short term silliness in order to return to regular annual budget procedures handled through the proper committees, I'm going to support them doing so.

Trying to squeeze the last bit o' mileage out of tRUmp, RUssia, Putin? The shutdown having nothing to do with those tired ol' dog whistles ... Schumer forces a politically suicidal shutdown, AND places the fate of the ILLEGALS in the hands of Trumps supreme court! :roflol: To your tired ol' meme ... #releasethememo ... Armageddon for Mueller and his cohorts.

Trump refuses to sign anything that doesn't give him the wall. The majority of Americans don't want the wall. And you say it's the Democrats fault. Duhhhhhhh

You have been running and hiding behind Nunes and Grassley propaganda for so long that your posts have become incoherent victim rants that merely expose a ton of butthurt. Again, I feel your pain, I really do :D.

This is a lie I hear quite often from the right. These are people who were brought here as CHILDREN having no choice. For the most part they are now adults serving in the military, owning businesses, going to college, paying taxes, etc., and usually at a higher rate then natural born citizens.

Then too, the legislators that caused this "crisis" are deemed more important then the military since they are being paid, and most were too cowardly to serve in the military as Trump was.

Wrong, the Wall is a budgetary matter. But you are correct with DACA.

What would be the difference? We are already ruled by cowards, and liars, like Trump, or legislators that sell their votes to the highest bidder.

New York Times blames Democrats for ‘blocking’ Senate funding bill only 45 Republicans supported.....

As the nation inched closer to the first government shutdown since 2013, the New York Times figured out who to blame: Democrats.

At around 10PM, the Senate took up a procedural vote to advance a Republican plan to fund the government four additional weeks. Under Senate rules it would require 60 votes for passage. Theoretically, a majority of Republicans could have gotten behind the plan and Democrats could have “blocked” it.

But that’s not what happened. Only 45 Republican Senators supported the Republican plan.

Nevertheless, the New York Times decided that Senate Democrats were to blame for “blocking” Republican legislation that only 45 Senate Republicans supported.....snip~

How did the wall become a budgetary matter? It is a proposal that most feel would be useless. Or maybe you feel that fulfilling the promises of Trump is more important then doing the business of the government.

The Republicans did not control the Senate in this case. They needed a 60/40 majority.

It's difficult to know whether leftists repeat this lie despite knowing the truth or if they are just dirt ignorant.

My "propaganda" has been right on the money ... consistently. You should visit my old threads ... Sara Carters sources are impeccable, and Judicial Watch always obtains the government records to back her up. A couple of prominent committee members now concur ... the dossier is Rosenstein, Ohr, Comey, McCabe, and Stroks "road map" to Leavenworth. Mueller will join them ... Uranium 1.
