This isn't really new. As Germany and Russia have had trade relations for over a hundred years, Russia has been buying and using German made equipment for more than a century.

Some governments are just flat out evil and if good people stand by and do nothing they are culpable. As to war, there are times when a country has to go to war in order to insures its safety for the future and the population is just to dense, complacent, or out right hostile to the idea that they have to be lied too. That is just the reality of trying to lead a country of millions. Even if every citizen was privy to every piece of intel there would still be a large component that would balk at fighting a war even when it is necessary. A good example is Germany. We should have stomped all over Germany when they remiliterized the Rhine. Instead we let the French and the Brits screw things up. Instead FDR took a fishing trip.

Regarding some qualities of government as you mention, George Washington compared government to fire: a useful servant, but a fearsome master.

 

They did in Iraq by introducing democracy and then Obama, a European hero, removed the troops.. But when has Germany or Russia ever fought for the freedom of anyone, anywhere or at any time? At least the US has a record of fighting for human rights and freedoms when both Russia and Germany have fought against them..

Russia only fought Germany because they were attacked, otherwise it would have never happened. They had signed a nonaggression pact with Germany, smacking a little of deja vu today.. The US even warned Stalin what Hitler was planning but he refused to believe it.

The Russian bear is a very sick bear indeed who conventional military is back up by a GNP equal to such world powers as Italy.

The US on the other hand spend more funds on it military then the rest of the world combine back up by the largest economic in the world.

Russia doesn’t have more troops. And the US doesn’t need that many tanks - mountains are on both coasts, they provide nice protection. Russia, at least the part that matters, is flat.
