Divine is a title or label to designated a certain mind set by an observer. It can only be assigned from another as one cannot just declare themselves divine. We are all sons of gods. Jesus askes us to elect the best and shows how to look. That works for everyone if we see God as the best rules and laws to live by. Moses did. I am somewhat warm to the opinion "We are sons of Gods" - don't like you definition of "divine" - I would say the ability to - manifest the will into physical reality - externally (note we all have this ability internally to some degree) constitutes divine power ... and the better you are at it .. the higher your god-like powers - should such things exist. Agree that Jesus gave rules to live buy .. specially the main one you mentioned which underlires everything "Sums up the Prophets and the Law" -- be also hear this rule highlighted through the ages .. Hamurrapi - Buddha - Confucius -- even Muhammad .. so perhaps the Universe is trying to tell us something. I have begun pushing the notion that the Earth is the only thing we should venerate as it creates and sustains us. The sun, of course, is also required, but given we are driving ourselves extinct by ignoring what we do to our eco system. No. I do not think I indicated that. I prefer what Jesus really taught on working on the Sabbath. He said the decision was ours by saying that the Sabbath was made for man and not man made for the Sabbath. Let's split this hair. I agree that our whole environment depends on many factors and it all begins with photons or other sub-atomic particles. The reason I chose the Earth to try to get people to venerates is so we start protecting her. The sun, we cannot protect but is something we need protecting from and the Earth and it's magnetic shield is what does that. You honor a killer sun, while I honor an Earth and it's magnetic protection from your killer sun. I honor what saves, you honor what kills, after giving us life, of course. If we are going to make one of the two a God .. doing so on the basis of respective powers - my vote is for the sun. It powers the plants. .. animals .. everything living. Obviously both are required .. so perhaps we relegate the Earth to lesser God status ? I thought for sure that you would know what the real Ten Commandments are by now. The real Fifth Commandment is found in Exodus 34:21, which is to work for 6 days but take the 7th day off (observe the sabbath). Moses killed a guy who violated that rule. He would have fried the Jesus character for violating it.
Forgive my ignorance. There are 3 sets of commandments in the bible and they are all different. The point is that Jesus pointed out the truth, in that religions and Sabbaths are made for us, and not us for them. We are to choose when to rest. Not some man made law. Regards DL
