The idea that YOUR god subsumes all consciences is monumentally presumptive.

IIRC, you are with the Latter Day Saints? Is that correct?

The great irony of "Christianity": We must protect the Jews!!!! But of course they are all going to hell. But never mind that....they are his chosen people!!!!

Not more so than that you and others cherry pick your consciences of what serves you best, and lift those standards into law and force all men to abide by them. And then violate the remainder of your conscience in secret, with none but you and God to know.

I was a Mormon for a time. And I found a discrepancy in Mormon beliefs between churches. We were taught that God came down and took mortal form and had physical sex with Mary. Other Mormon churches were shocked to learn this and deny this belief.

Are you a "God had sex with Mary Mormon?"

I've never heard of such a thing except from mockers of Christianity.

Haha no, I was raised Catholic and got religion in my early 20s again. I was a member of the LDS church for about a year. I was actually using this to put distance between me and my fiancee [whom I did not marry] but didn't realize that until years later. A missionary came to my door and said God can save me and apparently I took that literally. LOL!

It goes right along with "You too can be like Jesus and have your own planet" - ie celestial progression.

LDS also believe that non-white people are inferior. I'm not saying the poster you're conversing with is but he is part of a religion that has espoused that and done very little since then to assuage those edicts.

God decided to let black people in the church at the height of the civil rights movement.

They believe black people come from Canaanites. They are marked for his murder of his brother Abel.

NOBODY supports the notion that our laws should involve "cherry picking".

And, your accusations are a clear indication that you are running on empty.

I always liked the fact that the Book of Mormon officially teaches there are extraterrestrials. It is one thing they got right.

Don't know if they believe in the Jeremy Bearimey description of time,,,

For Christians, knowledge of God has come thru the Jews. So that puts Jews in a highly favorable light. Not sure about the hell part. But yeah, I get the irony. It's like the Fatherless or the adopted trying to tell those who reject their Father that they should be thankful to be loved and be part of the true vine as opposed to a graft. It's awkward. But we do it for his kindness, and are not ashamed to be a proof to his own. We have tasted of his fervor, and are constrained to urgency and the love by which he loves, to lay down our pride for their reclamation.

I state facts as best as I know and can say them. Yes our laws are cherry picked to serve those who make them. That's why you reject God....because he requires perfection rather than simply that which you presume serves you best. He is all conscience and all law.

That just doesn't make any sense AT ALL.

Just about ALL our legislators profess Christianity.

So, if cherries are being picked when making laws, it is Christians who are doing the picking.

It's everybody according to what they think the gen pop can bear. BTW, I happen to agree with the values lifted up in law.

Is this your statement of the USA being a representative democracy?

Or do you intend something darker?

People assume that life is supposed to go on forever like it is, with people being born, living and dying forever. It seems that Gods plan is different for mankind and earth. Apparently, if you believe the prophecies, there'll come some kind of wrapping up of things.

Life on Earth won't be possible in 1.5B years.

I think the end of Earth is relatively well known. If not, it's a pretty stark reminder of our failure in science education.

One billion, five hundred million years, may as well be forever, relative to civilizations short, six thousand year span. And science can't make us better people. Neither is God any more a fantasy than the light of conscience from which society springs. And if consensus is the validation, there is as much consensus in a city of men in God as in a city of men in conscience.
