Agreed. I started learning to shoot when I was six. I competed in NRA competitions when I was 10, albeit it was with .22 rifles, not large-bore submachine guns.

Shooting is a good sport and a good skill.

Got my first .22 when I was twelve. It was a hand me down Marlin .22 Lever, my mom had used to put rabbits on the table when we was po and living in McNary Texas. My older sister would drive the pick-up across the Camp 90 flats while mom stood in the bed and popped cotton tails for dinner. Mom was a helluva shot.

My first rifle was a single shot Winchester Model 60 bolt-action. My dad had refinished it and then given to me when I was 7-8 years old (Second Grade). I shot many a squirrel with that rifle and still have it.

When I was in 7th Grade, I was given brand new Browning BL-22 lever action for Christmas. I still have that one too. It's cherry wood stock is still perfect!

I love that statement by a pro-gunner, " A "such and such" gun is age appropriate for a SEVEN YEAR OLD""......GOOD!
Then so kids can have fun, fun, fun, fun fun, let's give ALL 7 year olds guns and let them take them to school...fun, fun, fun....why NOT? Why shouldn't children be indulged in fun, fun, fun,fun with what some think is the ONLY form of fun, guns. They take their skateboards to school, ride to school in vehicles, play ball in school...all FUN! and they are equally dangerous...

They could have fun showing them to their other little friends in school and if there's a dispute we won't have those silly fisticuffs with black eyes....it'll be settled permanently....
Why not? Obviously many people thnk that 7 year olds have the maturity , wisdom, emotional stability to be safe....Don't your kids deserve to feel safe in school? Well , ARM THEM......they'll be safe but it's only fair if they ALL get guns... :) I LIKE that idea ....

If the Left had their way, all children would be required to wear helmets and bubble-wrap 24/7. You know, "for the children"!

You're more of a "pro-lifer" than you think...they ONLY care about a fetus....once it's actually a child they don't give a damn what happens to it...

    - - - Updated - - -

Yup, it is so silly...afterall kids are dispensible, one goes, you can always have another.....

    - - - Updated - - -

Toefoot, need a response to the topic?

What I described is exactly what gun-toters want...and why not? Tell me why not??????????????

Why do you consider it hyperbole?

There's threads and threads of guntoters saying kids having guns is safe and fun.

    Don't you agree?

If they're safe and fun WHY can't they take their toys everywhere they go ???
If they take their skateboards and basket balls to school why not ANY toy?

Back away from the caffeine Fox. The drama and theatrics is not needed. Everyone I know and associate with want and teach gun responsibility with safety being very important and do not come close to how you describe them. Maybe you need a new circle of friends?

Straw man argument, but it's interesting that you believe that the only choices we have is to either mandate kids be forced to wear helmets, bubble-wrap and blinders 24/7 or treated like Styrofoam cups at McDonald's. Those who are less biased know there is a large area in between those two extremes.

Nothing is gained by projecting silly caracatures of what you wish gun enthusiasts would want.

Why can't you address the post and NOT the poster? No answers?

I never posted against gun responsibility and safety, I agree with you which you would see if you didn't get so emotional and personal.

Why is it that gun toters get so emotional and personal so easily ? ...and want to have guns.....

Why won't adults let children drive cars?

If they are taught safety rules why not?

The anti-gun crew is trying to act as if it's common practice for pro-gun parents to just toss their kids outside by their diaper and throw a loaded automatic rifle in their hands and tell them to go play for a while. In fact, I've taught my kids about gun safety over and over again before they were ever allowed to fire one. Their dad took them hunting many times also, and they were always in our presence with it. Now that they are older, they know how to handle a gun responsibly but I still won't let them do it alone (at 15 & 18 ).

Oh and my boys played Call of Duty and those other PS3 games but they are smart enough to know the difference between a game and real life.

No need to read minds when a person posts a straw man argument so clearly for all to see.

Why not? One just told me what I believe......

And what I proposed is EXACTLY what gun toters are saying...guns are fun and safe and no more dangerous than cars and skateboards......so why can't kids take them to school ?

No need to read minds? But you did, you told ME what I believe, that's reading minds...so why did you?

And what I proposed is EXACTLY what gun toters are saying...guns are fun and safe and no more dangerous than cars and skateboards......so why can't kids take them to school ?
