But you have 100% insight that it does? Or no, see Pascals Wager for that one. :D

Nobody has insight to 100% of all knowledge...you didn't know that? See guys like you who come to my thread learn new things all the time.

What we Christians have is faith...write that down in your notebook!

I haven't seen any of your posts absolutely pregnant with facts...just biased opinions, sarcasm, put downs... nothing of any worthy substance!

It seems that is usually how it goes. People respond with the same kind of substance they respond to.
Kinda like the garbage in, garbage out mentality.

I'd prefer it if you took the best reason you had and debated it instead of ignoring my criticism and moving onto the next reason. I'm looking for any good, solid reason, not ten half-good ones.

I've told you the structure of my criticism in the other cases, that I think the reasons apply equally to several religions and therefore cannot be used to make a distinction between them, whereas an actual reason must be able to do so. Having stated that, I would think that you'd check your future arguments for that problem, yet it appears again.

You claim that Jesus was resurrected and that that is a good reason to believe in Christianity. However, if we apply the same logic to another religion, let's say ancient Egyptian myths and the resurrection of Osiris, we see that your argument does not manage to tell Christianity apart from Egyptian myths and thus cannot make a distinction between the two. Thus the reason you have given is either a good reason to believe in both Christianity and Egyptian myths or it is a bad reason. Since, I think we agree, Egyptian myths are not true, the first case cannot be true, and thus, the reason you gave is not a good reason to believe in Christianity.

There is another angle one can take on this. You've skipped the part of the logic which I am actually asking for. I am asking for the reason to believe, but your logic takes place only when the supposedly preconceptionless person already accepts that Jesus was resurrected. As you must know most atheists do not believe Jesus was resurrected, and therefore, trying to explain the logic that takes place when one does believe that seems misdirected. I'm looking for a good reason to believe, not a good reason to agree once you already believe. You've answered a question I was not asking.

It was a rhetorical q. Write in your notebook to not give literal answers to rhetorical questions.
I know that is hard for a literalist. but sometimes literal is not the right way to go.

Slow down a bit. Most of what Jesus is said to have taught, is essentially the same as what every faith teaches. If you aren't a person of faith, it's what game theory teaches. You can pick any religion or none, and Jesus' lessons lose none of their force. Nor do you need to be a card-carrying Confucian to understand that Confucious had it pretty much together.

Especially when we have only third-hand hearsay evidence, from the writings of people with strong vested political interests, that Jesus ever existed at all. But Hindus believe in an afterlife as well, although it's very different. So if an afterlife persuades you, you have at least three choices - Christianity, Hinduism, and something else.

How can you possibly know this? Absence of evidence for other resurrections is not evidence of absence. Watch late-night TV, and you will see one program after another where the departed have appeared to the living. It's almost routine.

And one need not be a rocket scientist to understand that at the time the Gospels were written, they were being aimed at the poor, the slaves, the starving and crippled. The early church had no power to improve their present lives, but they could and did promise pie in the sky when you die. Without the slightest fear of contradiction, of course. Like any used car salesman, they understood that people will believe what they want.

But of course, these visions were said to have happened by hearsay, and they happened 800 miles away from where Paul said this, and in a different language, and about 80 years in the past. Current archaeology says that Nazereth at the time was a little community of maybe 25 families. How may of those people were likely to show up in Rome 80 years later and say "wait a minute, WE never saw any of that!" In Greek, of course.

Jim Jones, eat your heart out. You were born after the age of verification, when people actually checked up on things. Today, your sacrifice and those of your believers doesn't get the messiah treatment. Instead, you look like a demented con man suckering gullible fools.

Bwahahahaha. IF one swallows all of your premises, then you're right. No other explanation makes sense. The problem is, none of your premises make sense.

First, there probably was no Jesus. If there was, the man is buried under the mythological characters of the day anyway. And ordinary people indeed risk their lives to preach what they believe all the time. You don't seem to understand that believing something doesn't make it come true.

Slow down. Just for the sake of discussion, let's pretend that the Gospels don't exist. NOW, what is your evidence for Jesus, or for disciples, or for dreams, or for empty tombs. This isn't an unreasonable request, since the Gospels are known to have been written far away from events and much later, by people who weren't there who don't know people we know WERE there (except they SAID they were there). So what you're doing is you are assuming the literal truth of the Gospels, despite the fact that the Gospels evolved, and with each retelling the story enjoyed more and more embellishments.

    http://www.infidels.org/library/modern/richard_carrier/resurrection/lecture.html

We do not even know if the disciples ever existed. But if Jesus existed, and was a charismatic preacher, it seems reasonable that he would have a few dedicated followers. Look at all those people who were convinced the world was coming to an end (again!) a couple years back, sold all their stuff, climbed up the mountain to await the aliens or whatever, and nothing happened once again as usual. Were those people deceived, or deceivers? No, they were True Believers. So, once again, sincerely believing something doesn't make it true. Preaching your sincere believes doesn't make them any truer.

Now, here is your glorious chance to be honest. IF you had been born of devout Hindu parents, do you seriously think you'd be anything but a Hindu? Do you seriously think you would drop the gods you KNOW exist, in favor of some bizarre store about a space alien impregnating a human woman, whose child just happened to be a carbon copy of the mythological beings known at the time (who all were born of virgins, performed miracles, survived their own deaths, etc, etc.). Does your religion PERMIT you to be that honest?

That is why God was very clear when He instructed Moses to write down His commandments so that the people will not forget.
    Exodus 17:14
Then the LORD said to Moses, "Write this on a scroll as something to be remembered and make sure that Joshua hears it, because I will completely blot out the name of Amalek from under heaven."

Why do you pretend to know it all? You have been again and gain proven to be wrong especially when it is about God or Christianity. In fact in spite of your excellent grammar you seem to have problem in understanding God and Christianity.

Between Christianity, Islam and Judaism there is only One God and that is Jesus Christ. Jesus Christ is the Christian God that, you are correct is not the same God of Islam. Islam do not believe in Jesus Christ is God they have a total different version and story that is extracted and plagiarised from the Christian Bible and Judaism Torah. Christianity is the continuation of Judaism the New Testament it share the same God and history the only difference is that Judaism does not believe in the New Testament that Jesus Christ is God or the Messiah up to now Judaism is still waiting for the Messiah.

God loves His entire creation that is why He became man to be with us, to dine with us, to walk with us, to feel our pain, our limitations but most of all to die for us that is how much God loves us and His creation that He entrusted the universe to us and made is in His image with the power to create.
    Genesis 1:27
So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

    Genesis 1:28
God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky and over every living creature that moves on the ground."

Of course, that just shows you aren't paying attention. I use citations, scripture and so on to back up most everything I say.
But I'm sure you haven't really been paying attention.

Confucius is not a or the messiah he is a philosopher just like Lao Tzu or Buddha. They taught what is natural that human kind must act in good moral conscience. Jesus Christ is the fulfillment the Messiah of what they have been teaching.

Early church fathers especially the Apostles had nothing political, power or wealth to gain in fact they have everything to lose they lost their family, friends, power and wealth but most of all they lost their lives they die a torturous death all in the name of goodness and love. God Himself became man to deliver to us the first hand news and then He assign His Apostles to continue on. All the evidences were first hand with the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the transformation of the Apostles from being totally afraid to fearless and Holy individuals unafraid of any danger.

Back then they have no TV or cameras to trick people into believing. It was the Resurrection that made people believe without the Resurrection there will be no Christianity.

Yes early Gospel were aim at the slaves, the poor, the starving, the cripple the destitute because these are the people that are being oppress by those who have power, might and wealth. God gave them hope when hope seems lost, God gave them freedom when freedom seems gone but most of all God gave them salvation and something to live for. There is nothing to gain in serving those slaves only spirit and goodness no salesman would ever want to have anything to do with those slaves, poor or hungry only God care. And they believe because they discover truth and true wealth is the spirit not gold.

    John 20:24 -29
24 Now Thomas (also known as Didymus[a]), one of the Twelve, was not with the disciples when Jesus came. 25 So the other disciples told him, “We have seen the Lord!”

But he said to them, “Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe.”

26 A week later his disciples were in the house again, and Thomas was with them. Though the doors were locked, Jesus came and stood among them and said, “Peace be with you!” 27 Then he said to Thomas, “Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Stop doubting and believe.”

28 Thomas said to him, “My Lord and my God!”

29 Then Jesus told him, “Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
Jim Jones, eat your heart out. You were born after the age of verification, when people actually checked up on things. Today, your sacrifice and those of your believers doesn't get the messiah treatment. Instead, you look like a demented con man suckering gullible fools.

That is why God instructed Moses to write down everything so that the people will not forget.
    Exodus 17:14
After the victory, the LORD instructed Moses, "Write this down on a scroll as a permanent reminder, and read it aloud to Joshua: I will erase the memory of Amalek from under heaven."
First, there probably was no Jesus. If there was, the man is buried under the mythological characters of the day anyway. And ordinary people indeed risk their lives to preach what they believe all the time. You don't seem to understand that believing something doesn't make it come true.

We can not pretend that the Gospel don't exist because it did existed and it is because of the Gospels or Bible that we learn of the truth, about the the tombs, the Apostles, but most of all about God.

We know the Apostles existed because it was writen down both in the Bible and in history. Jesus did have not only few but many dedicated followers to the point that after he resurrected and left for Heaven Roman emperors started to launch a brutal and savage campaign against Jesus followers that were known then and today as Christians.God knew that He needed to proof Himself hat is why He became man and perform many miracles the most notable is His Resurrection.

Truth will set you free. St. Paul was once a staunch Christian hunter he was brought up to hate Christians and in the end he change because the truth came to him and Paul finally realize who is the True God and he would become a strong defender of Christianity he would gave up his political prestige, power, wealth, and life for Jesus Christ.

I dont pretend to know it all, saying I do is a lie. Saying I've been proven wrong is just too absurd to bother calling it a lie, tho it is. You are floppin' about like a fresh caught jack-mackeral on the dock, trying to think of something negative to say. You cant, so you make things up. Tsk tsk, what a display of xtian virtue!

Now, please tell why it is that you are unwilling to learn to write decent English?

You don't pretend to know it all you just want to lie about you know it all. My English is very decent in fact it is your English that is a shame especially for an English speaking person so shameful that you have nothing to say except using all kinds of negativeness, personal attacks, insults and lies because your English is limited to that you have no way of defending your position in a decent manner in fact I am very happy of my English :). My Christian virtue has taught me never to submit to people like you. and to pray that God will forgive you.

If Moses, the author, writes Then the lord said to me, that would be believable the moses is the author.
If we are talking about amalek, how is the name blotted out under heaven?

When you post your very 1st truthful post, you can then respond.
When you turn other peoples words around, lying, that is against the TOS.

You have no credibility to post replies to anyone.

A joke. All I read are jokes, lies, misinterpretations, misrepresentations, and made up opinions.
And english is about as bad as it gets. 6 yr olds have a better grasp of writing in english.
And one has to continually undo you quoting. Learn the quote function.
