The American-Western European Values Gap

I've not seen a real end to feudalism. USA and Europe is continuing having exactly the same structure, but with a feeling of more freedom.

We've passed to not being able to choose master, to be able to choose master and with some kind of rights granted but others denied, that even make the situation worse than in feudalism.

Is there a country full of people who harbor American attitudes toward the role of the state, but European attitudes toward the importance of religion? If so, I want to move there.

 

We (theoretically) oppose the use of government force to deny the freedoms of our citizens.

We favor the use of government force to get rid of other governments that deny the freedoms of their citizens.

It's really quite consistent.

 

All Nation States engage in a bit of hypocrisy from time to time, especially those endowed with the title of Hegemon.

But we've surely done more for human dignity and rights on the globe than any hegemon before us has. The only other alternative hegemon is China and I don't think their hegemony would be nearly as benevolent.

 

Russia still has the capacity to turn every inch of non-Russian soil on the planet into obsidian... they could become a great power again if they just got their <<<Mod Edit: Profanity Removed>>> together.

 

No state becomes a great power if its people don't make babies. Russian Slavs don't make babies in any significant numbers.

 

Why make babies when you can import them? It's what we're doing to Mexico...

 

Well, as disappointed as I am with the current state of America, I am glad to see that such a gap exists. I only hope it grows wider. Europe is a dead continent to me. Its moral relevance is virtually nonexistant now. It committed social and economic suicide some time ago.
