First you don't need a really big stick if you offer a really nice carrot. 2nd, people who think the immediate post war era 1948 to 1950 have anything to say about the here and no are delusional for the following reasons.

A.Almost all of our current competitors had been bombed flat or didn't really have anything with which to challenge us economically. By the end of the 1950's that US was no longer alone in the world and it was beginning to show economically.

B. There were no unfunded federal mandates upon the several states, Federal spending priorities were 180 degrees from where they are now.

2nd Globalization has been around in terms of global trade at least since the East India company and probably longer. Global trade is one thing and no one has a problem with that.
what out problem is involves the idiotic idea that running jobs over seas via high taxes and insanely high levels of regulations most of which don't really do much of anything other than keep bureaucrats happy is ridiculous.
