A SAD KIND OF ANNIVERSARY​

I would like to point out that one year ago this weekend, on Saturday, 2021-06-027 during the evening my time in Germany, our world first entered the 8-digit zone and crossed over 10,000,000 total confirmed Covid-19 cases worldwide: On the same day, later in the evening, the world also crossed over 500,000 Covid-19 deaths worldwide:

This means that as of this very same June weekend weekend in 2021, the number of total confirmed Covid-19 cases has increased a little more than 18-fold in one year's time and for the number of total confirmed C19 deaths, very close to 10-fold.

So, at the end of that weekend, the USA stood at just shy of 2.6 million cases and just a little over 128,000 deaths. Since that weekend, the number of cases in the USA has increased over 13-fold and the number of deaths, by almost 5-fold.

Also, you may find some of the commentary in my 1st analysis of India to be, in retrospect, quite accurate. At the end of that weekend, India was at just under 530,000 total C-19 cases and just over 16,000 deaths. Since then, the total cases and total deaths in India have increased 57-fold and 25-fold, respectively.

I don't know what to say. Happy Anniversary?!?!?

The UK just reported over +22,800 new C19 cases in one day. In Russia, today's total stands at +21,650 and in Indonesia, it's +20,694. When Colombia reports in, it will be close to +30,000. So, with what is expected from Brazil and India, those are going to be the top six for today. This is Russia's 5th consecutive day over +20,000, in Indonesia, it's the 4th day out of the last five and in the UK, this is the first time to go over +20,000 since 2021-01-031, almost exactly 5 months ago.

The Delta-Variant is making itself known in some countries, less so in others.

Things change with time, and so must I with them. In November of 2020, I posted a disclaimer about the analyses and then linked to it in every report. That disclaimer has changed with time and was re-presented on May 2, 2021. The disclaimer from today is now the newest and likely, the final edition. Everything under the dotted line is the exact text from May 2, 2021 disclaimer and most of it still applies. Everything above the dotted-line is new information, so you will know how far you may wish to read.

First, I have been working this thread virtually every day for 15+ months now, it's time for me to relax a bit.

Second, since in most (but not all) parts of the world, Covid-19 is drying up, I will still be tracking the worldwide figures and the nations I have chosen to track every day (will probably input the data for 2 days every 2 days, be patient with me) and will screenshot the worldwide figures and shoot them out to my blog, but I will only be posting the concise analyses as follows:

For the 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th of each month (published therefore on the 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th)

For the end of each month: the entire slew of tracked nation screenshots on the 1st of the following month and the entire worldwide monthly analysis on the 2nd of the following month. This means that as of July, 2021 until further notice, I will be publishing essentially on a weekly basis and not on a daily basis, but you can still see the daily figures roll by at the online excel table (see: SIG FILE or THIS LINK).

In the last couple of months until today, the tracking was at worldwide +46 nations. As of today, the tracking is (temporarily) at worldwide +50 nations. The following four nations have been added to the tracking (I still need to flesh-in some data with them, will happed in the next days:

Bolivia, Kazahkstan, Greece and Paraguay.

I added these four because it was obvious to me that Bulgaria's COVID-19 stats were slowing down so much, other nations would soon surpass Bulgaria, and indeed, 3 of the newly tracking nations have already overtaken Bulgaria in the rankings and Paraguay is most definitely going to jump over Bulgaria in the rankings today, 2021-06-030.

Why "temporarily"? Well, because 50 nations is a helluva lot of nations to track every day and the point of the excel table was to track nations that had a real chance of crossing over the 1,000,000-mark by the end of 2021. I wrote at the beginning of 2021 that I saw a possibilty of at least a sum total of 40 nations going over the 1,000,000-mark by the end of this year, possibly even 50, but now, even with the Delta-Variant swimming across the globe, I am seeing nations that are very unlikely to cross over. Right now, both Pakistan and Bangladesh are over 900,000 cases. Pakistan is closer to the 1,000,000 mark than Bangladesh, but Bangladesh is moving far more quickly. They are very likely to become the 29th and 30th nations on earth to have registered at least 1,000,000 total confirmed COVID-19 cases; this will very likely happen in July, 2021. Next, at about 877,000 cases, is little Portugal, which was "drying out" for the last 3 months but has picked-up steam again. Directly under Portugal is Israel, which has come to a near standstill, so it is very likely that by the end of this year, Israel will still not even be close to 1,000,000 and a number of nations currently ranked under Israel will have marched past it.

So, I am going to do the following: I will track the 50 nations for the next 60+ days, until the end of August, and then, at the beginning of September, 2021, nations that appear to have no chance of getting to 800,000 by the beginning of November will be removed from the tracking. And again, in December 2021, nations that will likely not hit 950,000 by year's end will also be stricken from the tracking. I am suspecting that will will see some interesting surprises come end of October.

Fourth, as for the USA, effective July 2021, I will not be screenshotting that nation's WorldOMeter figures every day, but rather, every 7 days and EOM, according to the new concise analysis plan I laid out above. In the USA, there are only three states left that are likely to reach a new major rubrik record: Michigan is likely to jump over the 1,000,000 mark either today or July 1st, 2021 and New Hampshire may just hit 100,000 total cases by the end of this year...maybe. Also, Missouri will probably go over 1,000 COVID-19 deaths and be the last state to do so. And so, for this reason, I am discontinuing the rubrik-table tracking for my homeland, for I find it will probably no longer be necessary. Also, I will no longer be doing EOM analyses for the USA as of July 31st, 2021. The USA will however receive an End of Year 2021 analysis.

Finally, if COVID-19 really dries up by September, I may even move the excel tracking to weekly figures instead of daily figures, but for now, I will still be tracking daily.

Should, however, another massive wave hit the world, then I may or may not move back to daily concise analyses. This is all going to depend on the progress of the virus and the speed of vaccinations, imo.

All of these steps will save me a lot of time and with my business ramping up to way over 100% to make up for a lost year, I simply don't have the time to pursue these figures like I did last year.

One thing that has changed is how I do the daily concise analyses and instead of pummeling y'all with information at the beginning of every analysis as to what to expect, I am simply quoting it here in this posting. Essentially, I am condensing the four standing links that you have been seeing at the top of each analysis for months on end now + the text portion before the worldwide numbers into one single "Reference Link".

That is a really handy tool to find analyses by date or by topic without having to sift through the many thousands of posting on this huge Covid-19 thread.

-To do a one-year lookback: simply use the online library-link for the year 2020.

If you want to see the analysis for any day I have analyzed, then either use the online library link or go to my sig-file, open the excel table, go to the tab that you want and click on the date you want. The excel table now covers the worldwide statistics and (currently) 41 other nations. I may or may not expand that number to between 50-52 by the end of this year. Wait and see how things develop.

Rolling averages (daily cases / daily deaths): a 7-day rolling average system has been in effect since since 2020-06-029. Also, the positivity rate (number of cases / number of performed tests, depicted as a percentage) was also added to the data at that time.

Confirming/sorting the data for the analyses? Then go here: WORLDOMETER for the current date -or- here: WAYBACK MACHINE when searching for today's date in the future: search for one or two days later than you want, then use the "yesterday" or "2 days ago" function at the top their large excel table.

Value discrepancies: sometimes there are discrepancies in the +-values (new cases, new deaths) between my excel table and WorldOMeter. This is always and without exception because WorldOMeter changed totals out of the past, usually from one or two days before, after I wrote the analysis. This is happening more often as countries are revising figures more often. Either way, I stick with the + values on my excel table as they are the correct reflection of the numbers as I recorded them. I simply do not have time to be constantly hunting numerical "ghosts" out of the past. If the discrepancy is extreme, I will note it briefly.

Pertinent only to the USA: that country is analyzed in 57 Units instead of 50 states.

If the situation in the USA continues to improve, then the day may come where I no longer do monthly USA analyses.

The end-of-month analyses are pretty intensive and take time to do well. Here the schedule:

-the following five postings are the screenshots of the Worldwide figures and the top 50 nations. Four new nations were just added the day before. 28 Of them now over 1,000,000 C19 cases, which means that NO nations went over the 1,000,000 mark in June 2021. However, 2 nations are on track to go over the 1,000,000-line in July 2021, namely Pakistan and Bangladesh.

The Worldwide and USA figures will not be posted here, since they both receive individual analyses. Instead, a screenshot (2 pages) of the preliminary Worldwide figures from WorldOMeter plus the 50 nations currently being tracked will be posted.

-later on in this day, I will publish the final USA figures in the form of a large analysis, covering both EOM and Half-Year 2021.

-Tomorrow, on 2021-07-002, I will then publish the end-analysis for the Worldwide figures for 2020-06-030, both as WOM and Half-Year 2021. WorldOMeter has a "2 days ago" function at its main table, which allows us to wait one more day to see the final numbers. The advantage to this is that nations that may be adjusting their total figures will have one more day to do so. Like the USA analysis, the worldwide analysis will be very large but it will likely be spread out over 2 postings.

I've eliminated a lot of extra text in these five postings. The USA is now seeing Covid-19 values that hearken back to the very first days of the pandemic. What was once THE epicenter of this horrible pandemic is now one of the brighest spots in all of this misery.

Since I was unable to do an EOM analysis for May, 2021, a direct comparison would be too much for for me, but since this is also Half-Year 2021, the opportunity presents itself to make all comparisons for Half-year instead. So, here is exactly the same data, input into my monthly compare excel table just for the USA, compared to EOY 2020:

The nice thing about this format is that the territories are not necessarily shunted off to the bottom of the table. For instance, US Military and Veterans Affairs are ranks 35 and 37. There are now 11 Units, all 11 of them being states, with over 1,000,000 total confirmed C19 cases. To put this in perspective, including the entire USA itself, the entire world has 28 nations that are over the 1,000,000 mark.

As you can see, in the course of the 1st half of 2021, 36 Units added more than +100,000 cases and four of those Units (states) added more than +1,000,000 cases.

It's kind of mind-boggling to realize that the USA has now conducted over ONE HALF BILLION Covid-19 tests.

The positivity rate is something that WorldOMeter does not show, but it is very easy to calculate.

Ignore the top 5 - that's just the excel table going crazy due to a lack of data, but as of row 8 down to row 26, now that is some serious positivity going on. Indiana and Kentucky were the closest to the national positivity rate this time around.

It is EXTREMELY disturbing to see that in the course of 1/2 year, no more tests have been performed in Puerto Rico.

At half-year, 19 Units have now suffered 10,000 or more C19 deaths and of them, 4 units have suffered more than 50,000 deaths.

Ohio and Rhode Island came the closest to the national Covid-19 mortality rate.

In conclusion: 14 months after producing daily USA analyses, including EOM analyses, this will be the final monthly analysis for the USA. The reason is simple: the USA is beating the pandemic and it's simply overkill to track the smallest of minutae. Michigan crossed over the 1,000,000-case-line on this day, the 11th unit to do so. It is also very likely the last Unit to do so, considering how far away from 1,000,000 (Arizona, 894,000 cases) the next unit is. Similarly, New Hampshire, at 99,504 cases, may cross 100,000 by the end of the year, or maybe not. The point is, things have slowed down so much, the time has come to look more at vaccination stats than for Covid-19 stats on a daily basis for the USA. This means that I am also discontinuing the rubrik-worktable for the USA; it has served its purpose.

The next really large analysis for my homeland will come out at years end, using this posting as a template. I hope you enjoyed reading these many analyses.

The month of June 2021, bringing the first half of 2021 to an end, saw the enormous India wave dissipate and the USA reach almost pre-pandemic levels. At the same time, with the Delta-Variant spreading over the world and surely to become the dominant strain, other nations are now on the rise: most all of South America, the UK, Russia, Malaysia and Indonesia, for instance.

A reminder: in March 2021, I upped the number of nations that are being tracked from 28 to 41: Daily tracking extended upward from 28 to 41 nations, posted 2021-03-018,16:46 UTC +1, #13256. I upped that number again from 41 to 46 during the month of May, 2021. At the end of June, 2021, I again *temporarily* up that number from 46 to 50, but you should read the link at the very top of this analysis to see what I intend to do with the tracking in the last half of 2021.

Always searching to build a better and quicker mousetrap and knowing that the top 46 nations I am tracking on a daily basis account for at least 90% of the Covid-19 activity across the world, I've took the USA monthly excel table I've been using for a while and adapted it vis-a-vis worldwide stats for the top 46 nations being tracked, in 3 major rubriks (cases, deaths, tests) that can be sorted a number of ways and therefore eliminates the need for so many other WorldOMeter screenshots.

Here we can see that at the end of April 2021, the top 46 nations accounted for 92.00% of most everything.

Sorted three times in the same table can be good for your eyes. We can see that the top 5 in total cases is not necessarily the same top 5 in total deaths or total tests.

Here we can see that numerically, India once again swept past all other nations in +cases (almost +7 million), but in +deaths, Peru surprised the world.

We see a continuation of the stark statistical rise in Asia, a result of the C19 explosion in India, to be sure.

So, keeping it more concise these days....our goal is for every country to be more and more like Oceana, where not hardly a case can be found, and just as few deaths.

It is my firm hope that we really are seeing the tail-end of this pandemic and that the numbers should slow to a drip-drip of almost nothing by year's end. One month ago, I wrote that it was more than likely that India would overtake the USA as the number 1 nation in total C19 cases in June 2021, July 2021 at the latest. Well, that did not happen as the Indian wave ended more quickly than I thought it would. The USA is posting numbers that hearken to the very beginning of the pandemic in that land, but even if the USA hits a stride of, say, +8,000 cases per day and no more, it would still go over 35 million total C19 cases by year's end. The more important factor is the high level of immunization in the USA and in many other lands, which should help us to get to herd immunity and kill this thing off before a fall wave can appear. That gives the world, at least the Northern Hemisphere, still 3 months to get there.

Right now, as summer hits, it's a race against time to get to herd immunity before the Fall "wave" has a chance of becoming a wave.

As noted in the new disclaimer, the next concise analyses will be for July 7, 14th, 21st and 28th, published on July 8th, 15th, 22nd and 29th.

Today, July 5th, 2021, the World will very likely exceed 4,000,000 total Covid-19 deaths.
Turkey is now on the threshhold of 50,000 total deaths, it will exceed that rubrik either today or tomorrow.

The USA had only +4,169 new C19 cases and +38 deaths on Independence Day 2021 and was rank 18 in the Covid-19 rankings, good news for that country.
Indonesia had almost exactly as many +cases on 2020-07-004 as Brazil.

Russia is very likely to overtake France in the rankings this week, trading rank 5 with rank 4.

UK will most definitely cross over 5,000,000 total C-19 cases in the next days and will therefore enter the concise analyses either on July 7th or July 14th.

I've already had to change my tracking as Tunisia has suddenly exploded with cases is already of Kazakhstan, Paraguay, Greece and Bulgaria and since I will not go over 50 nations in the tracking, Bulgaria has now fallen out of the tracking and is listed in my online excel table near the end as "dormant".

BANGLADESH WILL SOON BE THE 29th NATION ON EARTH TO EXCEED 1,000,000 TOTAL CONFIRMED COVID-19 CASES​

For weeks now, Pakistan was in line to be the next nation to join the 1,000,000 club and then this happened in Bangladesh:



I added Bangladesh to the tracking on 2021-02-028, 4.5 months ago and back then, that country had 546,216 C19 cases and 8,408 deaths.
At the tail-end of May, Bangladesh went over the 800,000 mark and one month later, at the tail-end of June, it went over the 900,000 mark.

As you can see, Bangladesh is averaging +9,666 cases per day but in the last two days, including today, Bangladesh clocked-in at over +11,000 case, so the probability is high that Bangladesh will sail over the 1,000,000 mark tomorrow, 2021-06-009 and it not, it will most definitely go over the mark on Saturday, 2021-07-010.

PS. Pakistan is not far behind, and Portugal is about to enter the 900,000 zone. Coming up the line very quickly is Malaysia, we will be seeing it leapfrog over a number of countries and surely in August, that land will also go over the 1,000,000 mark.

 

BANGLADESH EXCEEDED 1,000,000 TOTAL COVID-19 CASES ON 2021-07-009, 29th NATION TO DO SO​

On 2021-07-009, Bangladesh jumped over the 1,000,000 mark in total C19 cases:





For many weeks it looked as if Pakistan would be the 29th nation to join the 1,000,000 club, but then suddenly Bangladesh experienced a major rise in cases. The same thing is happening in Malaysia right now, so aside from Pakistan (likely to exceed 1,000,000 by the end of this month) and Portugal (probably in August), Malaysia may end up getting there before both of them.

No analysis today, but I feel the need to note that Indonesia is on the rise. On Sunday, 2021-07-011, Indonesia lead in total +deaths and was the only nation over +1,000 daily deaths. On Monday, 2021-07-012, Indonesia lead all other nations in both +cases and in +deaths.

We are most definitely seeing the surge of the Delta Variant of the Covid-19 virus in many corners of the world, with a marked rise in Asia and Africa. I will be writing separately about this in the next days.

On 2021-07-015, Indonesia surged past Brazil and India to be the world's leader in average +daily cases. And today, 2021-07-016, the UK has surged past India (yes, India) in daily +cases. Right now, the top 20, rolling 7-day average:

Tunisia is currently at 525,000 cases, but at this rate, by the end of this year, even Tunisia (curently rank 44) would be over the 1,000,000 mark.
