Eventually you will have more wolves than places to put them. That's just the sad fact of human overpopulation

No meat is left to rot in trophy hunts. It's to valuable in third world countries and is illegal in America.

Doubtful when you see the low population growth rates by Elephants. But hey i take you by your word. Lets allow elephants to regrow their population by the 30% they lost in the last 10 years. According to biologists this will take 70 years. So there is no problem during the next 70 years.

What Trump decided is a abomination. He is an absolute idiot. Why exactly was this decission necessary in anyway? He is a danger for the planet.

Yeah I feel the same about those ugly a$$ windmills killing thousands of migratory and predator birds that are vital to the ecosystem. But hey who cares about those birds for a few watts of leccy?

The elephant population has declined due to loss of habitat and you can't put elephants back where people now live and farm. Trump's decision was extremely limited in scope and directed like a laser to countries with programs designed to preserve elephant habitat and population.

Kind of like don't log, just let the forest naturally burn up in cataclysmic fires. If you put too many wolves or elephants in too small an area it's not nature, it's a man made catastrophe.

Thats wrong. The elephant population did decline because massive hunts against them. Illegal ivory trade mostly.

How idiotic your statement is shows your 2nd sentence. Like a laser targeted at countries with programs designed to preserve habitat? :D

    Zimbabwe?

You should mark your posts as Satire.

The only countries that do preserve elephants are Botswana and Namibia.

I tell you why Zimbabwe. Trump is a crooked disgusting billionaire and needs banana republics as playground.

Not to mention the immeasurable number of road kills, every day, 24/7, all across this nation, just so anti hunting, ivory tower dwellers can get toothpaste and toilet paper delivered to their local distribution centers.

Poaching is an issue but in the end it's loss of habitat.

"Most elephant habitat still extends outside protected areas, and the rapid growth of human populations and the extension of agriculture into rangelands and forests formerly considered unsuitable for farming mean that elephant habitat is continuing to be lost.

    Increasing conflict with people
As human populations expand, more land is being converted to agriculture. So elephant habitat is shrinking and becoming more fragmented, and people and elephants are increasingly coming into contact - and conflict - with each other.

Elephants sometimes raid farmers’ fields and damage their crops – affecting the farmers’ livelihoods – and may even kill people. Elephants are sometimes killed in retaliation.

With human populations continuing to grow across their range, habitat loss and degradation - and conflict with communities - will remain major threats to elephants' survival."

Then we should cull the population of the intruding species. In this case its not elephants.

But back to topic. Why did trump chose Zimbabwe. You lack to inform me why he chose a country with zero protective meassurements and one of the most bizarre tyrants as head of state?

You must excuse me, i´m from a reasonable country. Such decissions which are so illogical are rather odd for us.

Hunting of elephants by tourists is cost effective, profitable and easily monitored. The foreign hunter pays for all participation in the hunt, including government fees, and for taking the natural resource. A government representative is usually present. Animals are taken under a quota. The stakeholders in such an arrangement include the hunter, the professional hunter (guide), the regulatory agency (National Parks or Wildlife) and the people who live with the elephants (the community). So breed like rabbits and sell off land to oligarchs and then kill the animals because you have destroyed their environment? I actually think the breeding is less damaging than the selling off the land to corporate greed so they can sell hamburger, sugar, coffee etc, etc, etc, for a nickle more. And make trillions in profits off of it.

From the link in the OP

"Zimbabwe and Zambia issue annual permitsallowing foreign hunters to kill animals, like elephants, buffalo and lions, saying the practice allows the nations to raise money for conservation".
