The wall is a joke. The latest "plans" are that a long stretch of the "wall" is going to be a fence!

 

Have the technical requirements been published somewhere?

If not, I'm wondering how any company can design anything. Does it have to extend below ground? How high does it have to be? How strong does it have to be?

Without some technical requirements there can't really be a technical evaluation. How do you make an assessment between a wooden wall (glorified fence) that costs $1B and a reinforced steel and concrete double-wall structure that costs $100B?

The construction projects that I have worked on have included technical requirements that run to hundreds of pages. That is the owner's requirements, and contractors bid on those requirements. And that is for design and build projects. Unless something like that has been published I don't see how any company could prepare a sensible bid for the design.

 

Yes forget about a 21 billions dollars wall and instead of chasing Mexicans around the south west deserts after setting up guest workers programs for the needed foreign labor fine the (*)(*)(*)(*) out of anyone who hired illegal workers.

Including people like Trump who had himself hired illegal workers in the past to help tear down buildings.

 

And simply allow the drugs dealers and other criminal scum to continue arriving in the US? Other unwanted visitors will be arriving via your northern border soon, and they ought to worry you even more. I'd begin to put my trust in your president if I were you, rather than keep slagging him off because you're going to be dependent on him to retain your present way of life. It's all very well to say 'fine the hirers of illegals' but that won't reduce the numbers; and anyway, if they get fired they'll start to get into criminal activities in order to support themselves and their families. I don't believe you're thinking this one through - thankfully your president is!!

I don't know why there's such a hoo-ha about the wall/fence, as bits like this have already existed for years anyway so it's not a new idea, and Don simply wants to plug the gaps..

What I want to know is where the money for this 'wall' is coming from. I hear mention of construction cost estimates up to $12 billion. Then there's his promise to exponentially increase military spending. Where's all that money coming from?

Trump has already achieved success with bringing and keeping jobs to the US. A dead, slow economy has sprung back to life. Look at the record-setting markets for confirmation. Money that can be used for military improvements.

And Mexico is paying for the wall. Even they know that.
