That's because you didn't use the handy-dandy spin button.

The word I used is irrelevant. My point was clear.

    More excusing......to be expected.

    [Quoting myself from another source:]

"I live less than 2 miles from the supermarket. I shopped there this morning [6/27/2022]. As far as I could determine from my discrete comments and the responses to them by those working in the store, they -- the employees -- are conflicted. First, the punishment, Gilbert and Sullivan aside, did not seem to fit the crime. Then there was their knowledge of the arrested man as a fellow employee. Add to that their view of Mr. Rudolph Giuliani which ranges, depending upon the person, from something approaching hero worship to deep dislike and Bob's your uncle.

"It's not every day that abstract politics comes home to roost in a real incident happening before people's eyes. When it does, not everyone lines up in lockstep response.

"I hope that the folks working at our local ShopRite(r) don't end up choosing sides and thereby sundering relationships. I've always found them to be dedicated to making the shopping experience there a pleasant one."

    Regards, stay safe 'n well.

    Everybody has seen the video.

Wanna keep excusing this because of politics? You're doing great so far.

It also matters that it's against a 78 year old.

Another thing.....if it were harder, you'd still cheer it on so why are you acting like it matters how hard it was?

And, mob attacked hundreds of Capitol police officers, made a makeshift hangman's noose for then-VP Pence and threatened Pelosi.

You didn't get worked up about all the Capitol police officers being attacked by an angry mob that the Orange Stain manipulated and exploited.

So, is it Mondays when we should apply the double-standards or what's the exact formula, please?

I think Rudy should be in prison.

I also think this guy should get some time. Political violence should be prosecuted more severely than random violence, even when i think the victim deserved to be slapped.

I don't condone violence. I am an abuse survivor and advocate and the only time I had no choice but to physically stop someone was when they were brutalizing someone smaller or weaker than them. Fortunately, the cowards that beat kids and old people won't engage in a fight with someone that is not afraid of them.

However, while I can appreciate the position that political crimes should have more penalties, I can't say that I agree with the idea this guy should be in prison. It actually seems preposterous of me that anyone would think somebody slapping someone warrants them being housed with pedophiles, rapists, murderers, etc.. I would settle for community service and fines, but not hard time. We need those spaces for the people truly a danger to larger society.

I'm sure that in the county jail, he'd be locked up with weed dealers mostly, but community service and probation would be fine, but he should definitely be punished a little more severely than the usual first offense for assault would get in the same jurisdiction.

After reading the article and watching the video, I don't see what the big deal is, so some type of misdemeanor is in order.
It's not ok for anyone to strike anyone else, but that firm slap on the back was not over the top, so minimum repercussions are called for.
I'm trying to not let my disdain for Giuliani affect my judgement, but people need to have respect for others, at least physically.
All that said, whatever life dials up for Giuliani, he deserves it. He is a true scumbag.
But not bad enough to deserve physical abuse.

    Unless no one catches it!!

I can comment because I can't stand trump and I voted against him twice. I appreciate you admitting you support violence and are willing to open your wallet to incentivize more of the same. When you justify one excuse, you justify all.

This guy has shown violent tendencies. What do you think about his right to carry a gun?

Stalking and threatening? No, that's the school board members putting together dossiers of parents and Merrick Garland trying to turn them into terrorists.

They're not "stalking and threatening", they're informing them they're going to vote them out and are doing it in record numbers.

Shooting people at protests? Who are conservatives shooting that isn't in self defense? You must have us confused with the dozens of people killed in your riots and autonomous zones.

Driving cars into people? Pretty sure that's also your base.

Go ahead and pretend like you're not the violent ones. If we were the violent ones, there would be no leftists.

I don't condone violence. My thinking behind helping him is the same thinking behind others helping a guy that intentionally walked into a fight just to kill people (and walking away). Sidney Powell is financing Oath Keepers. The complaints against Harris is she posted bail for some BLM rioters.

Do you think all of them condone violence or just can empathize with their positions that led to their respective arrests.
OK, if we're calling some name-calling and a touch on the back as "violence" can you post links to your moral outrage about the Capitol rioters, please?

I believe Rudy is hamming it up just because he can. The "contact" was so short and insignificant that he had to look around to see what happened. He magnified that into falling on his head, skull being broken and dying. What about the Capitol police officers that WERE actually injured and the ones so mentally distressed by that riot that later killed themselves?

It's irrelevant if you didn't support Trump. Your response here implies you have a double-standard about what is labeled violence and what isn't and how is that any different than any partisan using double-standards to ignore craziness on their side and magnify craziness from the other side? Spoiler alert: It's not.

I'm not going to argue with you about 2A. You know my position on it and none of you are willing to have an open discussion to resolve anything so this question is pointless. I won't engage on it.[/QUOTE]

Because it matters... goes to intent....

I'm stumped I didn't see this thread earlier (I searched on Guiliani, but all what was returned was pictures of wine bottles)..

That video of the Rudyrection is one of the funniest things I've seen all year.... "I felt like a boulder fell on me"...

He was on The Masked Singer, when he should have been on Last Comic Standing...

I don't think anybody outside of public service has a right to carry a gun in public... so there's that...

What violent tendencies has he shown? Hearty Greeting in the Second Degree??

I mean, Rudy is used to being a public embarrassment, but why does he have to make it so easy??

This case screams probation and community service, and losing his job for disrespecting his place of work (only slightly more than the visiting guest).

I wasn't at all sure either way until I saw the video.... Rudy made it sound like he was surrounded by Hannibal Lecter and Andre the Giant...

    Now I am

You did in fact condone violence by offering to provide funding.

I cannot post links to my outrage on any topic. Please support your double standard accusation.
