I LOL at even misdemeanor assault, but I guess a harassment charge isn't out of the question....

Let the man plead guilty, pay his fine and/or do his community hours, and then find a new job... this is NOT somebody we need to have clogging our prison system (while his "victim" likely is)

If Rudi calls the 2020 Presidential election rigged, or stolen, by the Democrats, I suppose we all should have expected that his "assault," would turn out to be no more than a pat on the back (even calling that a slap on the back, I would rate as hyperbole).

But don't worry, Indie- 4- ever, the NYC Police kept the man jailed for over 24 hours, before releasing him, charged not with felony "assault," but only with misdemeanors. .

Like I say, that might technically amount to assault but if so, it is about as mild as you can get.

 

It actually doesn't even qualify as "assault." Giuliani & the police had to settle for some misdemeanor charges. At the end of the day, it is the prosecutor/D.A. who must sign off on any felony charge, as he will be the one presenting the case, and Prosecutors prefer not to lose. So as long as we have a jury trial system, there will be a counter, to law enforcement's shenanigans, when it comes to charging.

 

Possibly. I think he's hamming it up but some of our fellow Americans don't care about the abuse of power.

 

Legally, "assault" is making the comment.
Legally, "battery" is the physical contact.

Globally, it's all BS. If he was concerned about "good touches"/"bad touches" - well, you can finish that in your head, I'm sure.
