Would you say there is thus no such thing as an American culture? If there is an American culture, what is it except for a culture processed out of the multi-cultures of the people who came here and our shared experiences and beliefs?
This is the guy you draw your philosophical inspiration from? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Varg_Vikernes
Actually, the idea is older than America. Here's a wiki: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melting_pot Multiculturalism is not a bad thing.
I never said it wasn't. Great, what point are you trying to make? Only if you don't mind seeing cultures destroyed.
I just don't care- I have no preference and no dislike for people of similar ethnic backgrounds or dissimilar. Why is it taboo? Because it is usually a rational to discriminate against some group or another.
That I disagree with yours. hmm... I don't see that happening. When you take a look at things. most cultures actually tend to just stay in their own little corner of the world. It is primarily white men who are the destroyers of cultures. It was white men who brought blacks over to America for slaves. It was white Europeans who waged war against indigenous people for gold or oil or other nebulous resources. It is whites who impose their religion on to others while destroying other religions. It's whites who are destroying the original intent of America through Marxism out of greed. Leftists and liberals are primarily white. Conservative Christians are primarily white. Radical feminists are primarily white. Russia's aggression against the Ukraine is by white people. Obama is a black man, but he is upholding the ideals of white men. Hitler and Stalin are white men. White men imprison the indigenous people and put them into prisons called reservations. White men want to take away your firearms. White men don't care about the Constitution. White men run the corporations and enslave us so they can take away our money for themselves. KKK is white. Liberals hate mixed marriages are mostly white. People who think that government should pay for everything and protect people are white. Democrats who focus on race too much are mostly white. Yet allowing a small group of Mexicans to celebrate Cinco De Mayo is destroying American culture. White white white white white white white. Sure, I can see how multiculturalism is destroying American culture.
You have got to be kidding me. You do realize that race accounts for a miniscule amount of DNA, right? Get used to a mixed nation and embrace brown. It will be our national color soon. As an added bonus, if you are brown you get less skin cancer, save money on tanning salons and look mahvelous. Oh, and you age well too. Now if we could only get cracking on making America a Latino or African dominated culture so we can have some fun, that would be nice. White people go to brown or black peoples nations on vacation. You know why? Because we are fun. Really fun.
I didn't say there were never such occasions. But the economic power in the country is controlled by white folks, not black.
Wow. The clearly racist tone of that OP of yours, just got you a place on my 'ignore' list. I abhor that kind of destructive foolishness.
Really? whites...who deal with the long term social disadvantages from institutionalized racial discrimination towards other whites?.....how can you tell the socially disadvantaged whites from the rest?
hmmm... let's see. Trailer trash. inner city youths. people who aren't leftists or liberals are ostracized. People who aren't Conservative and Christian are ostracized, especially atheists. Not to mention that the growth of minority groups like Hispanics will eventually outstrip white people. Not that I'm opposed to that sort of thing mind you. I'd love to see the end of white people myself. They suck. All they do is destroy anything that doesn't agree with them.
What evidence do you have that people do this? Firstly, not caring one way or the other is different from preference, and secondly, you're equating similar ethnic background with general similarity - culturally, I have a lot more in common with many people with different ethnic backgrounds from myself than many people with similar ones to myself. So? And all the people in that study are including in the post you're addressing your question toward? Obviously results are going to be skewed by people who object to diversity. It's not. It's bad to choose people with similar DNA/ancestry if that's your reason for choosing them.
This thread and all media like it are the only reason racism is even a semi-serious problem anymore. Nobody takes some one who is being blatantly racist seriously. Anyone of any worth sees racism and responds either with anger or just ignores the idiot spouting off their supremacist philosophies. The ones who rally behind these people are few and far between, it is the radical ideas they put forth and the dramatic way they do it that gains them a disproportionate amount of attention. Racism is in it's death throws just let it die in peace and quit giving the few remaining genuine racists the attention they want but do not deserve.
Alright, I'll just state my moral objection to what you're saying then: One, or several, white people's racist opinions does not justify punishing whites as a group. Nor does one, or several, blacks' historical or present suffering justify positive treatment of blacks as a group. You're just thinking in terms of groups, which is morally reprehensible, which is why I say your collectivist thoughts are silly.
America is already full of non whites; We have red states and blue states, but no white states. Maybe it's time to change the flag, and get the white stars and white stripes out of there. Then it would represent the country as it stands today. If at some future date, common sense and Americanism returns, our descendants can change it back. No matter what color they are.
You know it's highly possible that there is no such thing as white or black and that's it's all just made up crap. Wouldn't that be something?
If someone shares, for example, the same opinions as me but has black skin, how exactly is that person "unlike" me but a person who shares none of my views with white skin is?
I mean beliefs not skin color. but even at that, there is such a thing as being color blind. And treating people with grace and dignity regardless of what the skin color is.'
treating people the same and not being a racist isn't the same thing as being blind to the obvious fact that there does actually existed black and white people.
