http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=avLKiWi71cE&feature=player_embedded#! This is just hilarious. Its true though....its great to know that any business can make it with unlimited financial resources and the backing of the federal government.
I really think that sucks. I have a problem with Americans that seem to get a kick of seeing American industry go down the tube. That's seems what a lot of stupid Americans are trying to do. Bad mouth the car and watch millions be wasted junking it. This is much like what Nader did to the Chevy Corvair. Good car and Nader caused GM to junk it.
Oh stop your holier than now bull(*)(*)(*)(*). The fact of the matter is, GM should have died, they (*)(*)(*)(*)ed up and the government picked them over hundreds of other companies that die every single year. I own a small business, and if you had any clue as to how hard it is today to do business you would be sick.
As I have several times, yes they should have let GM go under and allowed them to reorganize. BUT THEY DIDN'T. Done and over. But if they go under now, this country loses billions of dollars and puts hundreds of thousands of people out of work. Why in the hell is that so hard for people to understand? GM has got all those pensions and debt off of them and they can now compete with all the foreign own auto companies. It doesn't do this country one bit of good to see them go under now.
Is that right? Well what is your stance on tons of taxpayer dollars being used to prop up a company that needed to reorganize. And then the government telling said company it has to make a certain kind of car that the public doesn't want? How do you feel about EVEN MORE taxpayer dollars being spent to entice people to buy said car that the public doesn't want? And finally how do you feel about the known problems with the car the government said they have to build and are bribing the public to buy?
Read my post right above yours. I answered your question. What good would it do to put them out of business NOW?
Why is this guy spamming cartoon porn? He's done that in several threads, already. He had a few normal posts when he first got here.... INB4 the ban.
Bailout has been done right or wrong. But it makes no sense to try and put GM out of business now. All those billions you guys are complaining about will be lost forever with no chance of getting it back. You'll put over a hundred thousand people out of a job. How much sense does that make? It's stupid.
No sh*t. Article I read and posted on another thread earlier this week said that taxpayers are on the hook to about $250,000 PER CAR. Instead of cutting bait now, we are going to keep subsidizing this POS that doesn't sell.
We aren't subsidizing GM. They are once again the sales leader. They made a ton of money last year. Trying to put them out of business now is the dumbest thing I have heard.
Sorry, that post wasn't there when I clicked Submit. Looks like you did indeed answer the first question. You didn't answer my other questions though. The video was specifically about the Volt. Not their other vehicles. How is making fun of a piece of crap car that the government is bribing people to buy to the tune of $10,000.00 taxpayer dollars per car going to put GM out of business? And how does that equate to "Americans that seem to get a kick of seeing American industry go down the tube"?
I think the Volt is over priced but if you don't like it, don't buy it. But Consumer's Report rated it the customers most satisfied car on the road. If they don't sell enough of them it will kill it's self. But you good Americans aren't helping matters any by trashing it. Your not doing GM or our country any good by boycotting GM. Your only hurting your own country. I can't believe that my fellow Republicans can be so stupid you can't see that.
Chevy Volt scores highest satisfaction rating in Consumer Reports survey by Liane Yvkoff | December 1, 2011 2:21 PM PST Ninety three percent of Volt owners say they would purchase the vehicle again. But is this just the honeymoon period? Read more: http://reviews.cnet.com/8301-13746_...ing-in-consumer-reports-survey/#ixzz1nSJbJcTr
If it is so highly rated, why does the government need to subsidize the cost of the purchase? Does holding our nose and spending taxpayer dollars to prop up sales of ONE unpopular model "help our country"?
GM will not go out of business if they can contain costs, compete and operate without any taxpayer subsidy. The fallacy you keep spewing is hundreds of thousands out of work. You make it out as if GM goes away completely (won't happen because many firms operate in chapter 11) that the demand for a product also disappears. Ford could not fill the demand with its present production rate. They would need to tool up and add employees Chrysler and GM should have taken the bitter pill instead of giving the taxpayers the shaft.
No the fallacy is the people who claim they know more about the industry than the people who work in it. If Ford had so much to gain by GM and Chrysler going into Chapter 11, why would the CEO testify in favor of the bailouts? Maybe perhaps he, as a very smart and capable CEO, has a tad bit more info than you believe you have?
The CEO of Ford would want his competition burdened with such a massive bailout plan. Ford has taken full advantage of the situation. Don't be blinded by bull(*)(*)(*)(*).
No that is not what will happen. Hundreds of thousands would not be put out of work. It would be sold off and most of it would still be operated. Just without the Union contracts that exist now. Most companies that undergo that kind of selloff are operated by the courts until their assets are sold.
Yeah they sure are burdened. What in the (*)(*)(*)(*) are you talking about? GM earns its highest profit ever in 2011 with $7.6 billion; overseas losses cut 4Q profit http://www.washingtonpost.com/busin...ofit-sharing/2012/02/16/gIQAkMMWHR_story.html
It's about one car,,,,,,,,that's it! They should have made a car everybody would have wanted,,but Noooooooooooooooooo,,,they had to Bow to the Government and produced an overpriced Roman Candle!!! I would not trust any report knowing the Government may have done some arm twisting. The Government screws up enough and we do not need them using OUR money to PUSH their agenda!!! We want lower fuel prices, not Obama political substitutes.... And as far as Republicans go we want LESS GOVERNMENT,,,NOT MORE!! They screwed up from the start [as stated], and they will keep screwing up....I do not want them NEAR ANYTHING having to do with business...
