The orientation of this discussion is clearly more to reduce participation of certain classes of voters then to reduce voter fraud. The biggest voter frauds exist at the polling palaces with moscounts , hanging chads, rigged machines, voter intimidation, manipulated and reduced voting hours etc. The impact of individual voter fraud is minuscule in the overall picture as history has demonstrated time and time again.
Even the folks who pretend that the added token requirement would be a barrier for the few voter impersonators who risk fine and imprisonment for the fun of it must realize that the aforementioned, and especially hacking into computerized tabulations or tampering with bulk absentee ballots, are the methods one would actually use to pervert an election. As I mentioned previously, a fake ID good enough to fool your typical poll nanny could not be terribly expensive. It would be a barrier for some honest poor and elderly folks, of course, but it should pose no difficulty whatsoever for any determined voter impersonator. It wouldn't alter the outcome of elections. It's just another layer of meaningless government bureaucracy, and some folks seem to love meaningless government bureaucracy. . "If you say that's you, who am I to second-guess you? You people all look alike to me, anyway."
anonymous poll says 70% Favor Voter ID Laws require everyone bring in their voters id card, that card was sent to them via certified mail, thus verifies who they are and any confusion can be addressed prior to election day absentee ballots must all be notarized.... problem solved... .
As mentioned several times there is no need to come up with a solution since there is no problem. Unless you or anyone else can come up with any example where voter fraud influenced an election or was even a significant factor in an election there is no need to develop a solution for a problem that doesn't exist.
The plan is supported mostly by conservative republicans who have also attempted to manipulate voting hours and also because there is no demonstrated need for voter ID's to prevent voter fraud. No significant instances have been demonstrated on this forum as of the current posting.
The hopelessly paranoid may fantasize about conspiracies of voter impersonators streaming to the polls to pervert elections, but it's hard to see how their disorder would be assuaged by making them all flash an easily faked picture ID at a typical poll nanny. Unless they want to complicate the bureaucratic imposition and cost by elaborate encryption technology, finger-printing, iris-scans, and/or dna testing, as well as impersonator detection-training programmes for all poll minders, it's hard to see how their half-arse token barrier would make much of an impact on their imaginary bogus voter cabal. Anyone who can bring a modicum of common sense to the matter would recognize that attempting to pervert elections by recruiting, indoctrinating, instructing, compensating, coordinating, and deploying folks, each willing to risk fine and imprisonment to cast a single vote, is the equivalent of a crackpot scheme to amass vast wealth by counterfeiting pennies. It's a laughably inefficient way of going about it. Some clearly love their pointless bureaucracy, but hacking into vote tabulation software and/or intercepting absentee ballots in bulk are vastly more viable approaches to rigging elections. .
nope, the military can provide a notary on site.. pretty simple they could pretty much make any soldier a notary... .
I have a solution for voter fraud that should make Conservatives happy and solve two imaginary problems at one time. Make every voter show a firearm before they are permitted to cast a vote.
Pure conjecture. ID's with holograms are not easily obtained or manufactured and certainly more difficult than simply going in and voting under a false name or the name of someone you know died. Your stereotype bigotry of older people noted.
Which is costly, which means the voter has to be home the day the mail arrives and not knowing which day could mean several days, the person could be dead and someone else use the card. The simple commons sense voter ID is clearly the way to go. When you register, you get one else use the other forms available.
Yeaaahhhhh.... NOT REALLY!!! You're welcome to your own reality, but not your own facts. Fraud: Local NBC Investigation Discovers Dozens of Illegal Voters in Florida Here's a report from a news investigator researching on his own... Then took those 94... Seems those who oppose VoterID would want to ensure none of these 6300 voters cast one or more ballots for George W Bush, eh?
I didn't miss a thing. Every citizen has a right to vote even if they can't make it to the County Recorder's Office. Are you gettin' it now?
or you drive to the post office and pick it up later, better then being denied the right to vote come election day... as long as the absentee ballots also need to be notarized, as it makes no sense for people going in person to have to have more proof they are really who they say they are then anonymous people sending in a ballot .
Again getting a proper photo ID no more difficult. The constitution offers no protection for those who fail to take proper measures before polling day. Again getting a proper photo ID is no more difficult.
You made a claim. I am quoting you "Bull(*)(*)(*)(*) back at ya, sonny. Free voter IDs doesn't mean registration is free. Not by a long shot. Are you gettin' it now?" You claimed that registration wasn't free even if IDs were. You lied twice now and I have now exposed you for the liar and fraud that you are. You claimed that IDs weren't free when in fact that they are then you claimed that registration isn't free and I exposed you for that lie as well. Now show me a state where registering to vote costs money. As typical of just about all of your posts you just throw nonsensical crap around and hope that it sticks.
You haven't exposed dick, there sonny. It costs time and money for people to get to the registrar's office. It costs many people a lot of time and money. Jaysus, I hope I don't need to explain it again. Friggin' moron.
as we have seen on these threads, some think if your birthday is on election day it's considered expired, other think it's still valid for 30 days, other think it only expires as a DL, but is still good as a ID, these things have to be ironed out before election day ironically an expired DL is valid ID to get a new DL .
