It ultimatley comes down to what the American people want; not what the NRA or other gun owner associations want. I don't think most Americans want to have weapons totally elimated. Whats wrong with being able to own a shotgun or manual bolt action rifle? You can still defend yourself. Would you rather be facing the end of the barrel of an AR15 or 12 gauge double barreled shotgun??

I'm not sure what it will take for people to realize that...people will always be able to buy weapons illegally. The bad guys can not be allowed to possess the bigger firearm.

The Average age in the US is 37. The average age in Europe is 41. Crime rates fall drastically among people older than 40. The last time I checked the CIA fact Book Germany was 90% German France ninety percent French Britian 85% British. The US isn't 85- 90% anything. We've got Some of every ethnic Group in Europe along with all their mutual antagonism. Add to that mix Africans, Latinos, Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Hmong, Cambodians, Thais, Anzacs, South sea islanders and God alone knows what else living next door to each other. And you think this place should have no higher violence rates than Europe? Are you insane or just ignorant?

As does New York city.I realize the dopes on the left like Michael Moore will cite that
guns used in those major urban hubs { Washington D.C.,Chicago,N.Y.C.} come from
outside those cities in neighboring states and if there were a national weapons ban
things like Colimbine wouldn't happen.Pardon me but wasn't it learned that
Columbine was actually a false flag.
Yet Moore parses words insisitng our Founders never used the word GUN in the
2nd amendment but rather ARMS.And that couldn't some bomb be classified an
ARMS.Like maybe a Plutomium ARMS as a handy 2nd amendment right to bear.

 

Oh and by the way your gun homicide rate for the US is off a lot. Of the more than 31,000 gun deaths in the US last year more than 17000 were suicides.

 

In other words, after 20 years and for some states, the life of the state, you cannot point to this happening once.

 

Gun bans do not affect suicides, only the method of suicide, that has been proven in studies. That means that of the remaining 14,000, half of which happen in the black communities, out of a population of 311,591,917, means that we have about .45 out of every 10000 in the general public, but about .25 per 10K in non black and 1.73 per 10K in the black community, almost 7 times higher. What that tells me is that gun deaths are not about guns but about culture.

Like my comparison to New Zealand which had one mass shooting in the last 20 years. If you take the mass shootings at face value, you would think that the US is a worse place, but if you take mass shootings per capita over the last 20 years, NZ is almost double.
