I don't expect that our current Administration is going to even attempt an aggressive national lockdown but if the new Administration decided to I think they would meet a tremendous amount of resistance with the states and the citizenry.

I could survive a complete lockdown with some financial setbacks but those with less resources would be hurt in a big way and I'm not 100% confident that it would actually work because we wouldn't really lock down fully.

 

Dr. Scott Atlas, a Trump-sycophant who is serving on the current C19 task force, who is not an epidemiologist, but rather, a neuro-radiologist and therefore way, way out of his element, tweeted some really horrible **** about Gov. Whitmer's (D-MI) latest Covid-19 restrictions. Scott Atlas just made his own life very, very difficult:

This is obviously revenge for the fact that Trump did not win Michigan (he is currently losing by almost 150,000 votes), but what Scott Atlas wrote is quite specifically incitement to insurrection, which is a crime. He is inferring or implying that people, namely Trumpsuckers, should use force against Whitmer (remember, the FBI just foiled plans worked out by a nazi-militia group in MI to kidnap her, kill her and shoot most of the legislative as well as cops dead) because she is doing he damndest to hold a Covid-19 wave at bay.

So, this is especially vicious. It's 100% political and it is dangerous.

Only, this time, it is far more dangerous to Scott Atlas than he may realize, because it is less than a hop, skip and jump to make a serious argument before a judge or a tribunal that what he is doing is part of "conspiracy against the United States of America", the penalty for which, if found guilty, is either life imprisonment or death. See: Julius and Ethel Rosenberg, the 1950s. Those are immutable facts, part of the written verified history of our Republic.

These people really are completely untethered from reality and because Trump has gotten away for so long by misusing his power as President to spew endless streams of lies, to threaten, to intimidate, to bribe, etc... others who are in his orbit think that they can get away with it also.

Should there end up being a class-action lawsuit against Dr. Scott Atlas for incitement to insurrection (against the Michigan government, and by extension, against the US Government), you can be 100% guaranteed that I will join this lawsuit. That ******* Scott Atlas may think that he is ok with killing Grandma and Grandpa off in order to achieve "herd immunity" as quickly as possible, but I don't.

Moderna just announced that their vaccine has given 95% protection. It has the added benefit that the storage requirements are easier than the Pfizer vaccine - can be stored in a standard freezer for 6 months and standard fridge for one month. However their vaccine will not be available until early next year. What will be the impact on future orders from Pfizer?

 

Apart from Pfizer's vaccine, which they claim is 93% effective, Moderna is now claiming that their vaccine is 94.5% effective:

The German company curevac is testing its vaccine prototype at 5C storage. Curevac is several month behind and just is starting phase 3.

bioNtech, Moderna and curevac are mRNA, a new technology, originally developed to target cancer, HIV, Rabies and so on.
Its worth to look at those companies and their technology and what they are working on, that is cutting edge technology, worthwhile to be informed about.

The COVID-19 (SARS-Cov-2) vaccine is fraught with hazards. This should be the obvious, rational conclusion of anyone who cares to objectively study the available scientific and other relevant information about it. There are many factual danger signals that are easily discernible. (Snip)

 

That's the problem, isn't it. While we have the same varietal of political divide here, we generally had 80%+ support for the lockdowns. America's insistence on personal liberty is great when times are good, but absolutely terrible in an emergency.

We had plenty of poverty and financial distress in this country as a result of the lockdowns - that stuff is inevitable. It's the trade off I guess. Limit the damage (albeit sharper damage) to a short period, and work on recovery sooner. Probably works out about about even in the end, but at least ours results in dramatically less death - from COVID and from compromised health systems. There's also the small advantage of a relatively normal pre-COVID lifestyle.

As for personal survivability, we had no problems. We actually saved money, just like many others. No jobs lost, and our eldest two got more part-time work than they can do (both are university students). It's been a lucrative year for the whole family, actually. Shame it had to come from such awful circumstances.

 

Shouldn’t the Secret Service be interested in cases of insurrection?

 

In the pre-EOW tables, Part II, I indicated yesterday that Spain updates its weekend figures on Mondays. That changes Spain's weekly totals and also affects the newly implemented weekly worktables for the worldwide and top nation figures. You can see that it really does make a difference. Spain went from +84,346 to +100,879 fresh C19 infections and from +1,594 to +1,916 added deaths in that week's time.

Since Spain is most definitely one of the top nations and should not be ignored, I will continue to post the EOW (End of Week) analyses as I see fit, but the large four-fold table you are seeing above will first be posted the day after, just as I did today. This saves me time having to constantly adjust these figures just because Spain does not release numbers at the weekend.

Whatever is not screenshotted during the week, you can always see for yourself at the online-excel-document (see: sig-file)

This will be the new daily format apart from EOW (End of Week) / EOM / EOY analyses and it saves me a LOT of time. Wishing you all good health.

NEW as of 2020-11-015: I am making a change in the reporting and in the excel tables: for the worldwide figures, since we are crossing over a million-mark literally every two days, sometimes, each day, starting at 60 million, I will only be reporting "THE WORLD WENT OVER BLAH BLAH BLAH" every ten-million cases instead of every 1 million. If you look at the symbols to the left and the right of each of these totals, each round flower symbol stands for 10 million cases and each asterisk stands for 1 million. So, soon, for the worldwide numbers, I will only be reporting the round number changes when a new flower symbol is added. And in the excel table for the worldwide figures, as of 60 million, I will be highlighting in a new color and only once every 10 million cases.

A number of Republican Governors (UT, ND, IA, EV) have done a (needed) 180 degree turn and are now mandating masks.

They are far too late. Their own hubris will have contributed to the deaths of their constituents. Their failed leadership has helped the virus to fester.

It is quite literally their own ****ing faults.

 

CNN is doing investigative research on the true number of COVID-19 deaths in Russia. A former statistician who was interviewed over the internet is claiming that it is more like 130,000 who have already died from Covid-19 in Russia rather than the official total of just under 34,000. That man is named Alexey Raksha, who studied in and still lives in Moscow. He was a statistics stud for the finance ministerium, so the guy, like me, knows how to deal with numbers.

The name struck me as being somehow familiar, so I called a buddy of mine who lives in Samara, which is a beautiful "Residenzstadt" and provincial seat of over 1,000,000 people in the SE corner of the European part of Russia, and quite a bit away from Moscow. I have known this friend of mine since my days in Dessau, in the former East Germany. His family, a Russian Jewish family, emigrated from Russia to East Germany and I tutored that then young man in English for about two years. It was during an English session in past participles that he had to write and speak about people he or his family knew, and he mentioned the family name Raksha. And somehow, that name stuck in my brain all these days and when I saw and heard Alexey Raksha speak on CNN today, it was like an electric shock going through my body. So, I called my buddy Arkadyi (Arkakey) and he told me the following: Raksha comes from Samara, his family (most of it) still lives there and he is considered a math genie among those who know him. Arkadyi also told me that the number of Covid-19 death in Samara are being undercounted by at least 80% and that literally everyone who lives in the city knows it, too.

Yes, you heard me right. By 80%.

It's a tragedy.

 

This entire thing is getting so disheartening. All these months later, armed with 100+ years of science, we're still debating masks.

The numbers we are heading towards, make me want to cry.

We just heard a report on the radio that Laredo (I think,) is putting the IC patients into a place they are calling "the pit." Only one person has come out alive, so far.

Doctors & nurses are pleading with Americans to do the things.

Sigh.

 

Oh well, Friday we had 338 cases and to day it is 449, this is a Covid Bomb.
County is now in the highest Covid level, Orange/Red.
That is not anymore linear

So while I did my office I watched the commissioner meeting.
There sit this dumb shiit with his cowboy hat on and says, he does not care about what comes out of Denver and what colour they give county. The county has just one colour, red, white and blue, the colour of freedom.
People should just go about their business as usual.
Our hospital is full and all covid cases get flown to Grand Junction.
