It's been said before. In the olden days, people noticed that some plants or seeds helped them get better when they fell ill. It was rudimentary, but better than nothing. Eventually "natural medicine" evolved, where some widely known remedies mixed up with individual potions and folk cures. Science evolved, and looked at and analysed all these natural medicines and discovered which ones were effective, and which were not. They took the effective ones, and called them "Medicine". The rest were divided up into "Soup" and "Pot Pourri".

Two things one should note about the olden days' Life expectancy was about 45 and your chances survival was not infrequently directly proportional to your distance from what was then considered to be the best Medical care.

 

There's usually a book lurking somewhere behind these kinds of claims.

No. I am just skeptical of nearly everything these days. And I mean EVERYTHING! There is so much BS being presented as fact everywhere we turn that I've just become too weary of it all to even bothering checking it out anymore.

 

They do provide cures for cancer now, and they are very profitable. Not only that but the pharmaceutical industry also markets drugs that prevent cancer such as the vaccine for HPV. So your conspiracy theory is hogwash.

It's not about Big Pharma vs Nature. Many drugs started out as a natural cure. Aspirin is a great example. If a natural cure existed that worked pharmaceutical companies wouldn't suppress it - they'd test it, get approval and market it.

Good point Unifier. My wife is from Ecuador so I've heard some things about the area of Vilcabamba in the province of Loja that not everybody has heard. Yes, there were a few people who exaggerated their age somewhat to get extra attention and hopefully money.......and some scientists who very probably had an agenda to suppress the truth about the potential of trace minerals jumped on that detail and for a while were able to convince the majority of experts that the longevity there was mostly a hoax.

That was not an intellectually honest conclusion and the newer Wikipedia articles on Vilcabamba do a good job of putting forth the trace mineral theory??!!

In one of the debates I had on Facebook over the past few years I wrote back and forth with somebody who claimed to be a researcher who was working on a delivery method of getting trace minerals into the body quickly! If trace minerals themselves can't be patented....perhaps a certain combination of trace minerals combined with a delivery method can be!??!!

If the method works too well though.....only God and a legion of angels will be able to get the device into the hands of health professionals. It was actually probably back in 2008 or 2009 when I had that discussion....and the device doesn't seem to be out yet!!!!!!!

On the other hand an ordinary citizen.....who actually reads "The Miracle of MSM" which was written by three physicians.....will almost immediately understand that one product and what it can do as well as the possible negative side effects.....better than a physician who is so busy meeting with patients and reading up on the newest drugs that have just been put on the market......that they simply have no free time to read that book!!!!!!

I don't see why you would argue with the guy. There are statistical correlations of tumor growth suppression from eating onions, mushrooms and turmeric. There are known antibacterial properties of garlic, honey and basil. I wouldn't say that "apricots" are some type of magic bullet, however, some research in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, Lancet, and the New England Journal of Medicine should be able to separate fact from fiction and define whether apricots of worthy of consumption. I think that people in the "western worlds" are too afraid of the word "cancer". They can't even begin to comprehend the old slang that "you are what you eat". They'll shovel down 10 pounds of processed food and take a platinum-containing cancer drug and think that they are doing the "right thing" based upon the advice of their doctor who also didn't read any of those academic articles.
