That's the thing about many if not most left-wing people, they never stop being activists. Activism is baked into the cake of their ideology, so they gravitate towards career fields that allow them to continue their activism. School teachers, actors, journalists, reporters, are all jobs dominated by the left, because they are all jobs where they can make a living and push for the change they want in society.

What 9 year old kid has such a sad life as to want to go home and watch a politician talk? Were you that sad?

 

Watching a peaceful transition of power to the highest office in the land is what I would classify as a lesson in civics. It's part of govt and judging by some of the leftist comments on this site I would say their local school excused them from civics classes.

 

Sadly however it is not beneath our president elect if the past is any guild.

 

And people wonder how the US can spend so much money on education yet are middle of the road in the education department. It's attitudes like yours that make it all seem so real.

When I was in school I did my school work and when I got home I did my homework then went outside, on weekends I worked at my grand fathers restaurant for extra money, yes, 9 years old. In school we all watched the inaugurations, actually it was better to watch the inauguration than have class. In California the inauguration was at 9 am so we were in school as was most of the countries schools, has nothing to do with staying inside or playing outside.

 

Do you remember what the liberal schools did when oBozo was inaugurated in '09?

And if you had bothered to read post 73 that I replied to :- "Parents can choose to keep their kids home so they can watch it, or record it and let the kids watch it home". All normal nine year old children prefer to watch tv than do class work no matter what is on tv!

 

Back in the 60's I was in grammar school, 7th grade, we were bused to the Memorial Coliseum at UC Berkeley to see a campaign speech by then senator JFK,
we never went to see Nixon when he spoke a few weeks later. It also took the better part of the school day. Was that appropriate ?

 

It is a civics lesson no matter who is being inaugurated. It should be in school, the inauguration occurs during school hours.
