The true root of the problem was the incompetence of Great Britian to fulfill it's obligations as the "Mandatory" over territories under its authority after WW I in accordance with the League of Nations Charter. You raise an interesting point about Plastic Paddies. There is a phenomenon I have observed with a variety of diaspora populations. They tend to diverge from the parent population. The views of the parent population evolve. The views of the diaspora are to some extent frozen in time. That's one of the characteristics of the Irish American population to some extent. Of course none of this helps the English and their toadies.

The creation of the State of Israel violated the civil rights of the non-Jewish residents and citizens of the "small patch of desert" that became Israel in violation of the British Mandate for Palestine.
